New Thing #3: Thank you, "Umbrella Man"

Since I was downtown for my recruiter interview, I took a moment to admire the statue in Pioneer Square called "Allow Me" (nicknamed The Umbrella Man). I've always liked that statue-- he looks so friendly, pointing out something to someone in mid-step. I had always wanted to get close to that statue, to really study him. haha! i love this!!! and i love your "new thing a day" plan. you'll have a very loyal follower if you keep posting them.

i wonder if statue hugging feels anything like tree hugging?

Good! Thanks for the positive well-wishing about this project.
Statue hugging is less "real" then tree hugging. A tree you can almost feel it move and breathe. I became an expert on tree hugging during this sight-specific dance I did in college. It was a graduate student's 5 month long project. I was part of a trio that literally danced with "our tree" in the Pioneer Cemetary at UofO. I still feel a connection to that tree because I literally spent HOURS connecting with it (and my other two dancers). It was a pretty cool experience. I would suggest hugging a tree. But if you do, pour your soul in to it and really begin to treat it as a friend. Some trees are just that darn special! ;P
