LEGIT SONG REC LIST THUS FAR:1842January 31 2009, 01:03:50 UTC
i hadn't had my ipod with me when i was giving you my ~recs so here:
a: apres moi by regina spektor. om nom nom. she's fantastic and so is this song. the phrase "apres moi, le deluge" in french means "after me comes the flood" which is also in the song, coined by king louis XV. just a fun fact~ and there's the whole fact that regina's voice is fantastic and the piano is great in this.
b: blue ridge mountains by fleet foxes. their music is so...relaxing. the harmonies are (thank god) more complex than just thirds and fifths and it's obvious these guys are musically competent. the instrumentation is simple enough to not overpower the voices.
c: cape canaveral by conor oberst, oh my. my blogspot link (legendslinedup) is from this song, i love it so much. all of conor/bright eyes' lyrics are fantastic in a pretty sad kind of way, and i love the philosophy reference and the simplicity of the background music of this song. my favorite from his solo album.
well, i couldn't download two of your main ones because of m4a. i've heard existentialism etc etc SO MANY TIMES, though, and i love it. so \o/
erection: never listened to the faint before actually. in the right mood i really like techno-ish stuff and i think i was in the right mood when i listened to this song. lmao lyrics are a little strange but what else should i expect from a song titled "erection". i also didn't look them up so i don't know all of them, so.
ether: ..singer reminds me of davey havok for some reason? is that how you spell his name? probably the vocal scooping or something. but the chords are simple yet ~powerful or..if not powerful at least effective. very catchy.
earthquakes and sharks: i'm not feeling incredibly ~intelligent today so lmao i have nothing to say about this one - i liked it well enough but mostly for background sound, i'd say. i found myself spacing a little when i was listening to it
