It's more effective to address risk factors than protective factors. Yes, you can build up self esteem & community connection, etc, but at the end of the day if the kid goes home to a house with no food and gets beat up, there's not much the protective factors are going to do.

I went to an otherwise boring training on this yesterday. We need both sides to be worked on - symptoms and causes - but working on causes is more effective in the end.

(But I agree about the babies.)

normal does not exist, we take what we believe to be what the majority thinks/feels/believes/behaves, but no one person exhibits all of these traits at the same time in comparison to what has been established as "normal." this lie must be defused, we are all mad in one way or another, we are all deviant, we are all odd. there is no "normal."

agreed, but there is an "average" or "typical" that we all deviate from. some more than others.
