Rating: G
Warnings: fluffffff XD
Summary: Tamaki helps Haruhi understand her insensitivity with infinite patience.

I wrote this on my iPod XD which is why it's so short. I just didn't want to miss the deadline! It's for ouran_contest's "complaint" theme! 300 words or more.

“Good afternoon, Haruhi!” bursting with energy, Tamaki rushed up beside Haruhi before she even had time to blink, and suddenly his arms were around her. With a shout, she stumbled blindly and found herself caught by him as she tripped.

“Good afternoon, Tamaki-senpai,” Haruhi said with a slight sigh, watching forlornly as her books toppled onto the sidewalk. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to see you!” Tamaki explained as Haruhi bent to gather her books and then stood back up. “Isn’t it perfectly normal for a man to visit his girlfriend after classes!?”

“How long have you been waiting outside my apartment?” the hapless girl asked him, adjusting the schoolbooks more comfortably in her arms. “I had to take a few detours on the way home so…” she did some quick adding up in her head and then looked at him incredulously. “School got out an hour and a half ago. Have you been here the whole time?” she glanced at the limousine parked several yards away that she had not initially noticed.

“Is that bad?” Tamaki asked a little sheepishly, blushing very faintly.

“Well no… just… a little strange, I guess,” Haruhi smiled a bit awkwardly. “I’m going inside now. You can come, or I’ll see you tomorrow…”

“I love you, Haruhi,” Tamaki said quickly, at which Haruhi felt her cheeks flame a bit. They had been dating for nearly six months, but the sound of him uttering that particular phrase was still a surprise to her every time. It made her knees feel weak and she smiled at him awkwardly as she headed up the steps, digging her apartment key out of her pocket.

“You’re coming with me, then?” she asked conversationally, and Tamaki whimpered. Trying to ignore the coming storm she could sense in her high-strung boyfriend Haruhi crammed the key into the lock and let them into the apartment, closing the door behind them. As she began to make tea, he whimpered again. This time, Haruhi looked up at him. He was watching her with enormous, tearful eyes. Slowly, Haruhi sighed and lowered the teapot.

“What is it, senpai?” she asked, and he just whimpered again. Haruhi raised an eyebrow. “Tell me what’s wrong.”

“I don’t know,” he replied, and he was obviously pouting. Haruhi made a face at him and again lifted the teapot, dropping the tea ball filled with the ridiculously expensive jasmine tea the twins had brought back for her from Peru into the water with a soft splash.

“Yes you do,” she was an expert at reading him, even now when she could not recall anything happening to set him off into this state of hysterics. “What’s the problem?”

“Well…” Tamaki had taken a seat at Haruhi’s kitchen table and he was drawing patterns in a pile of spilled sugar on the fake wooden surface. “I… well…” for a moment he simply stared silently at her, and then the floor started. He began weeping signature Tamaki tears, loud and hysterical. With a wail, Tamaki threw his torso against the top of the table and sobbed into his arms, and Haruhi, alarmed, put what she was doing aside and came a bit closer. She was overwhelmed and not entirely certain how to react, and so she placed a hand gently on his head, amid the soft golden locks, and patted him.

“Hey…” she said softly, gently, as though speaking too loudly would break him. Tamaki looked up at her, and he looked absolutely heartbroken. “What's wrong, senpai?”

“You didn't say you loved me back!' he wailed, his reservations crumbling. Taken aback, Haruhi's eyes widened and she stood stock-still, not entirely sure what to make of this sudden outburst. She hadn't even thought about it. The fact that her silence would hurt him had not even crossed her mind. Hikaru was right. She was insensitive.

“Senpai, I'm sorry,” Haruhi replied, choosing her words carefully. She paused, looking at him. It was slightly embarrassing to do so but she did it anyway. He had the most beautiful iris-colored eyes and she stared into them for a moment, and then smiled awkwardly. “I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I guess I just know that I love you so I don't really... say it much, because I figure you know it too.”

“I do know it,” Tamaki said, sniffling. “But sometimes it's nice to hear.”

“Okay,” Haruhi agreed, nodding. “Then... I'll say it more often. Sorry I hurt your feelings, really.”

Tamaki laughed, a radiant smile on his lips once more as he stood from the table and came over to her, taking her into his arms. Haruhi simply blinked at him as he held her in his arms, dipping his head for a chaste peck to her lips. “How can I stay upset with someone as cute as you?”

Haruhi blushed furiously and scowled just a little, looking away from him. Tamaki was laughing and Haruhi felt light in her heart at the sound. She rested her cheek against his chest and listened to his slow and steady heartbeat. He stiffened slightly at the unexpected gesture but then he gave a happy sigh, his fingertips playing idly with her hair.

“Senpai?” she said carefully, closing her eyes and letting his calming smell waft over her.

“Yes, Haruhi?” Tamaki's voice rumbled through his chest and Haruhi felt it on her face. It made her smile and she knew that for better or for worse, she was stuck with this man, because she couldn't get tired of him if she tried.

“I love you.”
