Logging with peanut butter

Jun 21, 2009 19:39

Who: Miranda Lotto and Nozomu Itoshiki
What: Nozomu visits the S.S Haruhi to make peanut butter sandwiches with Miranda.
Where: S.S Haruhi kitchen
When: Right before Nozomu decided to be a viking.

Miranda scurried around the kitchen of the S.S. Haruhi frantically. She had still to get acquainted with where everything was, and had yet to find that blasted peanut butter. And Mr. Itoshiki was going to be here any minute now...

Nozomu glanced around the S.S Haruhi. It was actually nicer looking than the ship he was on before which was a bit odd considering it was a pirate ship. Or was it? ..like it really mattered anyways. So getting on the ship proved to be easy enough, but getting around proved to be difficult. He was calm for about six minutes until he began to run about the ship with thoughts of a black hole causing the halls to be endless. Thankfully, he found the kitchen before he could have gone into a full out panic. "Ah. I found it."

The young woman shrieked upon hearing a voice come from behind her, and she dropped the plate she had been holding. She cursed as it shattered to a million little pieces, and cursed her luck. "Ah, Mr. Itoshiki!" she exclaimed whilst bending down to clean up the shards. "Make yourself comfortable. I'll be with you in just a second"

The sudden crash of a plate caused the teacher to flinch, a sweat drop rolling down the side of his forehead right after. "Yes." He nodded with a smile, with thoughts racing into his head. 'She is rather clumsy! What if she cuts herself..? I DON'T HAVE ANY BAND AIDS!' His smile twitched.

Miranda cocked her head to the side curiously as she rose from her kneeling position on the floor. "Are you alright?" she asked, sauntering over to the trash bin and tossing the shards without a problem.

"Y-Y-YES! OF COURSE!" He smiled awkwardly. It seems that she didn't cut her finger after all. But there were other things to be wary about..what if he cut his finger!? Would it be rude to ask if she had any extra band aids, just in case?

The exorcists' eyebrows furrowed. Something seemed odd... Oh well. "I've toasted some bread and taken out the peanut butter. Is there anything else you would like to try?" she asked with a smile.

He blinked and rubbed his chin. "I think that would be it." There were many sandwiches that had to be made after all. One hundred thousand, was it? Maybe that was too much. "I also-" He was about to say that he too had brought some bread but the bag in his hand that had contained the bread was no longer there. Panic. How would he finish his sentence now!? "-think that the sky is very blue today."

She cocked an eyebrow at him now. Well that was random. She turned back to the cabinets, brushing off the thought, and reached for bananas and apples. "It seems I'll be the only one having a peanut butter and bana-AH!" Unfortunately for Miranda, the bad luck that refused to strike her whence picking up the shards had decided that the fruit bowl up on the shelf should land on her head. The young woman fell on her back, stars dancing around her eyes as a large bump throbbed on her cranium.

SHE FELL. BAND AID!? BAND AID!? "A-Are you alright?" This is what he gets for making plans. At least when he was at school, nothing bad happened..that much. What if she died from being hit too hard on the head? He could never live with himself!

'Miranda, Miranda, Unlucky woman Miranda~' She heard the children from her hometown taunt her as the stars continued the dance before her eyes. Miranda groaned, feeling the pain ebb away at a snail's pace, and sat up, holding her head.

Oh! She's still alive! With a sigh of relief, he walked over to Miranda and placed one hand on her shoulder. "It's good that you're alive." He bent over to gather the bowl and fruit that were now haphazardly laying on the floor

"Thank you for your concern, Mr. Itoshiki" she smiled sheepishly. Miranda tried to get up...only to step on an apple and fall right back on the floor.

Nozomu blinked then proceeded to offer a hand to the woman. That was the polite thing to do, yes? "I'll help you up." He smiled.

"T-thank you..." she reached up, plainly embarrassed. Her luck hadn't been this bad for such a long time. She could still hear those children singing in her head. "Miranda, Miranda, unlucky woman Miranda~'

"You know." He released her hand once she was stable again. "Things like this happen all the time! House hold wives! Teenagers! Athletes! Famous people!" He pointed upward, the thought of these people racing into his mind.

"Yes, I suppose, but normal people don't get fired from 100 different jobs..." she grumbled under her breath, defeated.

"If it's happened to one person, it must have happened to another! You're not the only one!" With this, he began to frantically wave his arms around. "Even someone else here!"

"Really? You have bad luck too?" she asked curiously, taking the bowl from his hands and carefully placing it on the counter.

"Ah!" He didn't actually say that, but it was sort of true. "Not exactly bad luck, but there is a lot of despair in my life."

"Despair?" she asked frowning. He didn't seem like the type of person who had a lot of despair in his life. At least that's what her first impression of him said.

Nozomu crossed his arms, nodding and taking in memories of things that have happened in his life. "Yes. Even my name means Despair."

"You poor dear" Miranda tutted, walking over to the table that had the bread and peanut butter on it. "You really need a peanut butter sandwich"

"I'm used to it by now." He smiled lightly, recalling how many failed suicide attempts he's had. "I would actually enjoy one, yes." He's eaten peanut butter but it would be a first for eating it in sandwich form.

"It's even better toasted! she grinned, making herself a sandwich. Ah, she was missing her sliced bananas. "Toss me a banana, will you?"

He turned his head and let his eyes scan the room for a banana. Of course they were sitting right on the counter. "Here." He picked it up to childishly throw it at the woman (obviously not taking it into consideration that she might not be able to catch it) but instead, it slipped from his hand and fell behind him. A pause. "....." His mouth gaped open as he grabbed onto his head with both hands. "It fell..!"

"Mr. Itoshiki!" she placed her hands on his shoulders. "It's alright!" she reassured sheepishly. Hadn't he said something about he was used to his bad luck...?

A deep breath. "Right. It has the skin. He slammed his fist into his palm. "So it's still fine." He picked up the banana and handed it to Miranda.

She held one hand to her face trying to stifle her giggle while the other gingerly took the fruit. "I'll place them both in the oven so they can toast in just a moment". She sliced her banana slowly and gingerly, careful not to cut herself, and then placed both sandwiches in the oven. "Now we wait"

He nodded, placing both his hands inside his sleeves. So it would seem there really were many different ways to prepare one type of sandwich.."Ah." Just trying to clear the pauses. "This kitchen is really big."

"Yes. I hadn't noticed before" the young woman said, glancing around the room. Just then a strange smell clouded her nose. She turned back to the oven, and her jaw falling wide open, unable to mutter anything.

"Is it almost ready?" The man tilted his head to the side, unable to see that it was clearly burning.

Miranda pointed at the oven, and made a strange gurgling sound

Nozomu's mouth fell open upon seeing the oven being engulfed by smoke. "F-FIRE." Was he not a guest on the current ship? If the kitchen burned down then...oh...OH. "I CAN'T BE CAPTURED BY PIRATES AGAIN!!"

Miranda finally snapped back to her senses, and rushed over to a a vase filled with flowers. She tossed out the flowers before throwing open the oven. The exorcist, in her panic, threw in the entire vase with it's water, and cringed when the resulting crash of shattered glass was heard. At least the fire's out...

He wasn't much help with the yelling, but it wasn't like there was much he could do anyways. "Ah. It's out." Stroking his chin with his forefinger, he walked up the oven and raised an eyebrow. "I think they're burnt."

Miranda sighed, exasperated. The kitchen was damaged, and it was all her fault. "I think we should just stick to licking peanut butter from a spoon" she grumbled, turning to her guest looking exhausted. "That way I cause less damage"

The teacher nodded at the idea with a smile and a sweat drop. "That would work."

miranda, nozomu itoshiki, peanut butter
