Uhh, I don't know if this is going to make it better or worse, but it may not be as "wtf" as it seems. She's probably not bullshitting you; she is just young and got out of what I'm guessing was a serious relationship. So she was probably clingy because she does like you, but clingy denotes some level of neediness, which I can only imagine came from her being on the rebound, so to speak. I've done that a lot - find a guy I like but don't feel ready for a relationship. She probably just doesn't want to lead you on. :( I'm sorry that happened though, just give her some time and maybe she'll come around.
