hm, i've had the urge to loot those places myself. i'm not sure where it comes from. perhaps it's a primal thing? perhaps it's wanting to find something valuable which will be destroyed otherwise? the government has condemned those houses on the basis of their location and problem of their physical existence, perhaps their disregard for their human history, emotional existence as 'homes', has influenced me?

I've thought the same thing. Maybe it's not primal, maybe it's just seeing opportunity. The houses aren't just demolished, they're taken apart methodically, so most valuable things won't be destroyed.
