Atton's Office, Saturday Afternoon

Oct 01, 2016 20:38

Atton walked into his office late, partly because he'd slept in, and partly because he'd evaded his babysitters for the weekend for a day already and he was hoping to stretch that time out for a while longer. But he couldn't really make it stretch much further, and so there he was, a large bottle of water on his desk and a bunch of plastic cups set ( Read more... )

"Thanks," Atton said, eyeing the sabacc cards he'd nailed to the wall at... some point. "I did nothing with it. I'm glad you noticed."

He was happy to see Mira.

While Chester was leaning towards seeing things Ada's way (as opposed to Duncan's), he figured he should do due diligence and at least check with some of her teachers to make sure the girl wasn't skipping classes or raising hell instead of applying herself to her studies.

Given that Ada was a Miller, he wasn't holding out hope on the academics. Really, he'd settle for 'hadn't punched some Townie student in the face during class.'

"Mr. Rand?"

Atton looked up from his desk. "Yep," he called. "Come in. Which one's yours?"

"Ada Miller," Chester said, stepping in to the office all the way. "She said something about you being her teacher for probability-math?"

"Oh, that's right," Atton said, sitting up. "She's got a good head for it. Seems to know how to gauge chances right."
