6. Home

Junsu had this feeling of emptiness as they sat there. The airport was bustling with tourist and Yoochun and Junsu sat on a small bench under an air-conditioner. It was insanely hot, not a cloud in the sky, only the smouldering sun burning on their backs, shoulders and necks through the glass ceilings of the airport. Yoochun had turned his face upwards and the air-conditioner softly brushed the long strands of his bangs out of his face.

Junsu had only a few minutes left before he had to board and he wondered how exactly he was going to leave things. The past week had been great, incredible, unreal. It was filled with visits to the beach, the cliff, eating bread, pizza, pasta's, and having sex where ever, whenever. With every time they slept together things got just a little but more intimate, there were more whispers, more kisses, more love.

They had spent one entire evening preparing Junsu. Taking their sweet time, Yoochun fingered him long and gently and made Junsu feel things, good things, things he never though he could feel. The words 'I love you' had been on the tip of his tongue the whole time, but he managed to refrain from making a complete fool of himself. Soft reassuring whispers of 'it'll be okay, I promise' 'Ill be gentle, Junsu, trust me' had him whimpering. How he wished Yoochun would just change his mind on the last second and just go back with him, to be able to have him there with him, everywhere with him. Junsu didn't cry, hell no, he wasn't going to cry, but what was he going to do really? He had no idea of how this goodbye was going to be.

“Junsu, I think that's your flight they're announcing,” Yoochun suddenly said and Junsu wanted to slap him in the face. Now he couldn't even act like he forgot the time and missed his flight, oh no.

“I'm going to miss you,” Junsu finally said. “I know it's weird.”

“Why is that-”

“And I know it's weird to like someone after such a short time, but I just feel like we've been through a lot and we've gotten pretty close and I do really, really like you.”

“I like you too, Junsu.”

“Yeah, but I don't think you understand. I like you...like I'd like a girl. I want to hold hands with you all the time and I want to buy you random things with hearts on them. And... I don't know, have stupid jealousy fits for no real reason at all.”

“Junsu, I think you really need to-”

“No, Yoochun, listen. Here, I wrote down my address and my phone number at home. I really hope you'll at least manage to send me a card or even just call me once. And whenever you decide to come home, maybe you can visit or something, I don't know. As long as you have my address. Don't lose it. Put it in your bag.”

'Flight 607 to Seoul South Korea is taking off'. Junsu heard the announcement and froze.

“What did they say?”

“You missed your flight,” Yoochun sighed. “I tried telling you but you were...on a roll.”

Junsu didn't know whether to be mad at himself, be mad at Yoochun for not interrupting him in time or whether to just be insanely embarrassed about the fact that he was going to have to face the words he had just said and see them sink in, when those exact words were supposed to be a goodbye, things he wouldn't have said if he wasn't planning on getting on that plane 5 seconds after he said it. Well damnit.

“What do I do now?” Junsu frowned. “What the hell do I do now?”

“I suggest you go book another flight,” Yoochun said. “Unless you want to talk some more.”

“I don't, okay. I don't want to talk anymore. Leave me alone.” Junsu picked up his bag and stood up. “Well, I'll be leaving then.”

“Where are you going?”

“I don't know. Away,” Junsu groaned and turned his back on him. With one tug on the hem of his shirt Yoochun had Junsu sitting down again.

“Why do you make things so awkward all the time?” he chuckled before pressing a quick kiss on the corner of Junsu's mouth. “I'm going to call you, I'm going to write you and one day, I'm going to visit you. I promise.”

Junsu found himself taking in every detail of Yoochun's face. “I like you,” he softly repeated his words from before. “I like you a lot. Why can't you come back with me? Why can't you buy a ticket and go home with me right now...”

It was one of those rare moments where Yoochun's expression was something other than amused. His smile fell and he looked pained, more so than Junsu wanted.

“I promise I won't take too long, okay? I like you too, Junsu. A lot. And I'm so happy I met you and there's nothing I want more than for you to say fuck it and stay with me, but I know that's not life. Life is work and paying rent and visiting your parents every weekend-”

“But what's wrong with that, really?” Junsu asked. “What's wrong with just having that normal life?”

Yoochun's smile returned and he lifted a hand and put it in Junsu's neck. “Nothing is wrong with that. It' just that right now...I just can't right now. I like you though. I swear to god, I like you.”

A little laugh escaped Junsu's lips. “Why are you swearing.”

“Because you still looked sad and now you're smiling,” Yoochun said and brushed his thumb over Junsu's cheekbone. “Promise that when I come back, you'll have a place for me to stay.”

“Promise that you'll come, one more time.”

Kim Junsu.

I'm writing this two days after you've left, but I'm posting it a week after, so I don't look too desperate. I went to Rome. It's weird, not having someone to watch out for. I hope you made it home safe. I miss you

Park Yoochun.

Junsu,

Changmin says hi~ Jaejoong says bonjour~ You can guess where I am. I miss you.

I'd draw a heart but I can't really, so imagine it ~here~

Park Yoochun.

Junsu~

I went back up north. It's freezing in Stockholm. I bet it's raining at home, right? Well, happy Halloween I guess. Go to a party, have fun. But not too much fun. Save that for when I come back. I miss you.

Park Yoochun

Sweet sweet Junsu,

Christmas in Brazil. It's indescribable. We'll come here together one day, that's a fact. I wish you were here now, but I'm happy you're spending Christmas in your family. I called mine, in case you were wondering.

Imagine giant hearts right ~here~here~here~ and ~here~

Park Yoochun

Junsu,

this is 2 out of 3. This is your HAPPY NEW YEAR'S card. Happy new years~ Feliz Ano Novo!

Park Yoochun

Junsu,

this is 3 out of 3 and this one is just randomly because I miss you and I hope you haven't forgotten about me just yet. Wait just a little longer please.

Park Yoochun

Kim Junsu,

It's been a while. I didn't forget you, please don't think that. Things have been hectic, amazing, but hectic. I'm in Dubai. It's a bit too expensive to call a paradise, but other than that, perfection. I'll be seeing you soon I hope.

Love,

Park Yoochun

Dear Junsu

You've probably noticed that this card is a bit different from all the others. Or at least I hope so. And I hope you've got all my other cards too.

This card is pink. There are no manly Valentine's Cards, I'm so sorry. But you did say you wanted to buy me things with hearts on them right? Well, here you go.

Even if all those other cards didn't reach you, I'm sure this one will. Don't ask me why. It's creepy.

Okay, I'll tell you anyway. I'm going to slide it under your door myself. I know it's creepy, but it's the only way I'm sure it'll reach you and I hope you'll like it even though it's huge and pink and extremely awkward.

Ps: I'm not knocking on your door, because I'm pissing myself at the thought of seeing you again.

Love,

Park Yoochun

Junsu fingered the edges of the big obnoxious pink card.

They stood there in Junsu's hallway, Yoochun right outside of his door, still wearing their thick coats and scarfs. Yunho could not have chosen a better moment to send Junsu out to get the groceries for that week, because right when Junsu was about to pull open the front door, he saw something pink slide in from under it. And when he pulled the door open and the person standing there was no one other than Park Yoochun, nothing else really mattered. They had stared at each other for a while before Yoochun picked up the card and handed it over. And here they were.

“I got all your cards,” Junsu finally said. “And I...I missed you too.”

“Ah...thanks, I guess. I really don't know what to say,” Yoochun said and let out an awkward laugh.

“Come in,” Junsu said.

“It looked like you were just leaving so-”

“It wasn't important,”Junsu quickly said. “Come in, please.”

Yoochun entered the apartment and Junsu shut the door. “Yunho!” he called out. “Are you decent?”

“Should I be?” his room mate answered from inside his room. “Is your mom here?”

“No, it's...someone else.”

Junsu was still having a hard time processing. Had Yoochun really appeared at his door just now? With a big pink Valentine's card as an incredibly romantic gesture? Did all that just really happen?

Yunho came out of his room wearing jeans and a t-shirt, a smile gracing his handsome face. “Hi there,” he said and put his hand out. “I'm Jung Yunho, Junsu's roommate.”

Junsu had known Yunho from his college days, but it wasn't until they met by chance just a few weeks after Junsu came back to Korea that they started hanging out more and when Junsu mentioned that he was looking for an apartment in Seoul he insisted he move in with him and Junsu couldn't come up with a good reason not to.

“Park Yoochun,” Yoochun said, introducing himself and and shaking Yunho's hand.

“I suppose I'll be running the errands myself today,” Yunho said and passed them.

“I'll make it up to you,” Junsu said.

“I'm sorry for intruding,” Yoochun added.

“Don't worry about it,” Yunho shrugged as he put on his coat and shoes. He glanced at the card in Junsu's hands for a second and an amused smile graced his lips. “See you guys later. I think. Bye.”

Junsu led Yoochun to the small living room after Yunho finally left and took off his coat and scarf. Yoochun stood next to him and looked around. “Your place is nice.”

“Thanks. Take off your jacket, sit down. Can I get you anything? We don't have much but I think there's at least some coffee left.”

“Yeah, sure, thanks.”

Junsu took the card with him into the kitchen. The second he was alone his hands started shaking, his heart started beating like never before and even his legs felt like they were made out of jello. “O my god,” he whispered to himself. “Get yourself together, get yourself together, get yourself together.” He put the card down on the counter, but immediately picked it up again. He felt like an idiot for wanting to clutch it against his chest, for actually clutching it against his chest. He sniffed it, like crazy people do, he thought. It just smelled like paper and ink, but paper and ink had never smelled so amazing.

With shaking hands he started to fix the coffee and when he went back to the living room Yoochun was sitting on the couch, straight up still wearing his coat.

“You should take your jacket off,” Junsu said and handed him a mug. “Make yourself at home.”

“How have you been, Junsu?” Yoochun asked, catching Junsu off guard.

“Fine,” was the automatic response. “I mean, yeah, I'm good.”

“That's good. Your roommate seems really nice.”

“He is. And he is just a roommate.” For some reason Junsu felt like he had to make that clear.

“I see,” Yoochun nodded and stared into his mug. “I don't know why this is so awkward, I'm sorry.”

“You changed your hair. It looks nice.”

“Thank you.”

Junsu was still holding the card and traced the big heart on it with his finger.

“You look great too,” Yoochun added. “Really really good.”

“Thanks,” Junsu said and smoothed down his hair. “I wish...” he stopped and tried to sort out his thoughts. “I wish you'd have called a few times. I loved getting those cards, but it was weird not being able to say anything back. I think things would have been less awkward now if you had called.”

“I've...tried to be honest. And I know it's stupid but I kept chickening out. If you hadn't opened the door just now...”

“But why would you be scared? It hasn't been that long. Six months...it's not that long really. At least not long enough to change my mind about you or something.”

Yoochun turned to look at him as Junsu said that. “Happy Valentine's Day.”

“That's cute, but Valentine's day was a week ago.”

“Details, details.”

Junsu laughed and Yoochun smiled as he sipped his coffee. And just like that things weren't as awkward anymore.

They talked for hours after that. About Yoochun's travelling, Junsu's new job, their family, Yunho, Changmin and even Jaejoong. And when the conversation took a not so unexpected turn to their time together in Sicily, the feelings of actually being together came rushing back. With those feelings came soft brushes of their thighs, a hand on an arm or a bump of shoulders and those touches quickly became comfortable. They shared a courteous kiss and made a date for the next day before Yoochun left.

Junsu went into his room, straight to his closet where he took out the biggest shoe box he had, filled with everything he had saved from his trip to Europe, including all the pictures they took, their train tickets Yoochun's sunglasses and even a pair of flipflops of Yoochun's he had snatched away when Yoochun decided to buy new ones in Sicily, and of course all the cards he had gotten until now. As he added the Valentine's card with the others, he traced the heart with his fingers again and wondered what was for dinner.
