pureudanotes au, unedited, weird, finished in 35 minutes, written on notepad (LOL).
disclaimer i don't think you can own people. :|

he says:
"love is love is love is love, don't you see? and there's not much you can do about it, if anything at all. it's just gonna be there, whether you like it or not. and it's probably not the answer you wanted - or maybe you didn't even want the answer - but you asked me and this is what you've got.
"and... what i think is the saddest part about love? i think the saddest part about love is that sometimes - only sometimes, it only happens to some people - you hold on and on to that part of love until you can't stand it anymore and - and you think to yourself, i'm gonna go tell them, but then the next morning you wake up and find them gone."
he pauses, just only a misplaced second.
"... love," he continues, less sure of himself than before. "love? love is nice. but in the end, love is nice, and that's just what it is."
kibum forgets to breathe.

"if one thing can last forever it's...?" he asks the question tentatively, only because he doesn't know what the other boy might say.
but donghae in the corner only purses his lips and thinks. and the only noise in the room is from their next-door neighbor because the television in that room is just so loud.
"i don't know," he finally says, giving up - but that's not what kibum is thinking; kibum is thinking that if donghae gave up then nobody can answer.
"how many...?" he begins to say but is cut off by a sad look. actually, just a little angrily, "you know what i think?"
"what, you think?" donghae says jokingly and he has to crack a smile.
"i think they're kidding us."
"really." not so much a question as much as a statement.
"i think that they don't think very highly of us."
"really."
and there is the epiphany, the collision like the square of twenty-hundred (which is what?).
"oh," kibum says, letting go of everything.
"yeah," donghae says, and there it goes again.

in the end, that's just how it goes. love is love is love is love, and there's not much he can do about it, if anything at all.
in the end, donghae ends up winning the district-wide screenplay competition - why he would actually sit down and think and write something, kibum doesn't actually understand. the paper itself isn't typed in some strange, unheard-of font; just normal. donghae compares his heart to cedar point except there are a few problems with the simile: one, he has never seen cedar point except in pictures and two, he wasn't nervous or excited or happy at all.
(because love is love is love is love.)
the script is simple but - strangely - empty. maybe kibum knows why, just doesn't think about it. it's realistic. a boy, and a girl.
"they don't end up together, do they?" he asks.
"i haven't really thought about that yet," donghae admits.
"he doesn't catch a taxi," kibum points out. "he doesn't catch her."
"no, he doesn't."

he says:
"love is something ancestors made up. am i right? 'cuz no one's ever been in love before. no one's been in love before." he laughs and shakes his head. "you think i'm bitter, right?"
kibum says, slow and careful, "you think that love is a word printed on paper but someday, someone will prove you wrong."
"where is that person?"
and he can't say a word.
"donghae..." he tries to swallow. "love - "
"is love - "
"is love - "
"is love. i know," he says, laughing, and that's just how it goes.
