8 The Encounter
"You look like crap. What happened?" Jaejoong hovered over him and waved a hand in front of his face. "What is it? Didn't it go well?"
"It was a fucking disaster. I don't want to talk about it." Yoochun turned onto his side and stared at the wall.
"That bad? Did you fall off the horse or something? Or did you get into another fight?"
"Jaejoong, please not now,” Yoochun sighed.
"Then at least tell me why your phone was off all day. I got worried,” Jae said and sat down on the edge of the bed.
Yoochun didn't say anything and Jaejoong nodded in understanding. "I'm going to take a shower and then we'll see." He got up and left for the shower, leaving Yoochun to think of where to start when he came back.
It wasn't that Yoochun didn't want to talk, he just didn't know what to say exactly. Everything seemed perfect that night. The sex was good, at least that's what he thought. Until...until afterwards. Junsu's words were cold 'We never should have done this. I can't believe I did this to him.' It was pretty clear. Yoochun left and Junsu didn't even ask him where he was going. He managed to catch a cab home after he had wandered the city for a while. He saw Yunho and Changmin sitting together on a porch not far from Junsu's house and he was sure they saw him. His parents weren't expecting him back that night so he took his time, switching off his phone in case Junsu came back to his senses and started calling him. He didn't need that. Pity.
Jaejoong came back from his shower and jumped into bed with him. He leaned against the wall and with his knees against his chest. He only wore pyjama bottoms and left his chest bare.
"Come clean already. I'm getting curious," he said and poked him between the ribs.
"First he tells me he likes me, but not more than his boyfriend. I tell him I like him back and he sleeps with me.” He paused and saw Jaejoong stare at him, his eyes barely still in their sockets/
"You slept with him?” he asked softly and Yoochun nodded.
"But... how could you do that? How could he do that? Why is he still with Taegoon if this is how he's going to act?"
"All I know is that I'm officially done with him," Yoochun said. "He knows I like him now and he chooses to play these games. What kind of person does that?" As he said it they both heard a knock on the door.
"Who's there?" Jaejoong asked and the person behind the door scraped his throat loudly.
"It's Junsu."
"No," Yoochun whispered when Jaejoong gave him a questioning look.
"We're kind of busy. What is it?" Jae called out.
"Yoochun forgot his camera the other day," Junsu said and mumbled something inaudible.
"I'll go get it for you," Jae said softly and stood up. Yoochun jumped off the bed and went into the bathroom.
"Hey, I'm sorry to disturb you but did Yoochun come back yet?" Yoochun heard Junsu ask.
"Yeah he's here but he's busy right now. Shower or whatever," Jae shrugged and Yoochun bit his lip.
"Well okay. I'll catch him tomorrow I guess. Goodnight."
Jaejoong closed the door and put Yoochun came back out of the bathroom. Jaejoong handed him the camera and he put it in his closet before climbing back on the bed.
"He did not look good," Jaejoong said.
Yoochun shrugged. "I hate this. I should have listened to you from the beginning. Who did I think I was? Thinking I could make him fall for me if I wanted to when clearly I'm nothing compared to Taegoon-"
"Don't be like this, Yoochun. This isn't about you, its about him. Either he's a complete dick or he doesn't know what he wants and he's handling it in all the wrong ways. Fuck him, really."
"I don't know, Jaejoong. He said he liked me...I really don't know anymore. I wish I hadn't slept with him. I should have known better, but when I'm with him it's like nothing matters anymore."
They sat in silence for a while before Jaejoong sighed heavily and hugged him. "You're so in love."
"Am I?" Yoochun murmured into his friend's naked shoulder. "What should I say to him if he tries talking to me tomorrow?"
"You could ignore him," Jaejoong suggested. "Or hear him out."
"Yeah, I had gotten that far," Yoochun sighed and pulled back. "Hey...I saw Changmin and Yunho last night..."
"Where?" Jaejoong asked casually but the way his eyes shifted from wall to wall said enough.
"In Junsu's neighbourhood. They were just sitting in front of a house."
"Well...good for them."
"I wonder why they're hiding it," Yoochun said.
"Probably to stay out of all the drama going on in this school," Jaejoong shrugged. "They fooled me."
"They fooled everyone. Junsu has been living with them for a year and a half and he only found out weeks ago."
"You think they'll do something special tomorrow?" Jaejoong asked and Yoochun remembered that it was Valentine's Day.
"We should skip class," he finally said. "Boycott the whole day."
"Too suspicious. We'll get through it," Jaejoong said. "It's not the end of the world."
"Hey, do you have a second?" Junsu cornered him at the end of class, right before lunch and before Yoochun could even leave the classroom. Jaejoong had left a minute before him needing to pee and he cursed himself for not going with him.
"Yeah sure," he said. "What is it?"
"I was worried when you left and your phone was off again. You really shouldn't do that."
Yoochun just shrugged and picked up his books. "Whatever. Jaejoong is waiting for me, so..."
"Yoochun, I'm sorry," he quickly said and blocked the door. The teacher had left minutes ago and they were the only ones left. "I really didn't mean for it to go this way."
"I understand. It's fine."
"You don't sound fine," Junsu said.
"I don't care how I sound, Junsu. I'm done with whatever game we were playing," Yoochun snapped and Junsu looked shocked by his tone. "Happy Valentine's day, Junsu. I hope you and your boyfriend made up."
"Is this where you want to end it?" Junsu asked. "Mad?"
"I don't care."
"Why are you being like this?"
"Are you kidding me? Junsu, we fucked and you looked at me like it was the worst thing you had ever done in your entire life. I leave in the middle of the night and you don't even try to stop me. You don't even ask me where I'm going. How am I supposed to act towards you right now? Am I supposed to feel sorry for you? Poor you, Junsu, with your perfect boyfriend and all your other lovers on the side. I get it okay? You played me and I fell for it thinking I was in control when really you controlled everything."
"What are you even saying? You're making it sound like I planned all this out when I didn't! I...I swear I didn't. And there are no 'other lovers on the side', Yoochun. Is that really what you think of me?"
"I don't know what to think of you, okay? And honestly, I don't know why you care. You should be worried what your boyfriend thinks of you."
"This is between you and me."
"No," Yoochun said and shook his head. "There's nothing between you and me. Nothing.”
Junsu stood there with his lips pursed together. He nodded slowly. "You're turning everything around," he said calmly. "All of a sudden it's all my fault? I admit I should have never even started hanging out with you, because Taegoon was right. Bastards like you only want one thing." He spit the last words out and anger flared up in Yoochun's chest.
"And what's that?" Yoochun snapped.
"You're all about big talk and sex and everything related. You could have stayed the other night but you chose to leave-"
"I'm all about big talk and sex? Me? How many guys have you slept with up until now, Junsu? And lying about it? Your boyfriend thinks he's your first and one and only, right?"
"Shut up," Junsu hissed. "I trusted you."
“And what the hell does Taegoon even know about me? What gives him the right to even say something like that? And how the fuck could you believe that?” the anger and frustration Yoochun felt was unmeasurable.
“Well wasn't it about that then? You got what you wanted and you left, you didn't even wait for the fucking morning,” Junsu spat.
“I left because you started calling it a mistake! All that bullcrap about wanting to make my first time special and the second it's done you act like I was the biggest mistake of your life. What would have happened if I stayed?”
“I don't know, okay? I don't know anything. I don't even know what I want anymore. I don't know what to feel or think or who to believe. I just...” his voice died off and his eyes turned to the floor. “I don't know...” his voice hitched and Yoochun's heart hitched with it.
“Are you crying?” he asked and Junsu shook his head.
“Why?” Yoochun asked, ignoring Junsu's answer.
“I swear,” Junsu said softly and sniffed. “I swear... I never meant to hurt you.” The heart wrenching sobs that followed took Yoochun completely by surprise. Junsu turned around and covered his face as he cried and Yoochun stared at his shaking shoulder for a few seconds before moving forward. He put a hand on Junsu's shoulder, turning him around. He hugged him and Junsu immediately hugged him back. Yoochun knew this wasn't going too well. His resolve from before to end it all started to crumble at the sight of his bloodshot eyes.
“I'm sorry,” Junsu murmured and pushed himself out of Yoochun's arms. He started wiping his face dry with his hands. “I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry for ruining your...your first time...”
“Stop it, you're making it worse,” Yoochun said and grabbed Junsu's wrist.
Yoochun couldn't understand how on earth they could have been as careless as to leave the door open. The second he saw Taegoon appear in the doorway his heart stopped.
“What are you doing?” he asked and moved up next to Junsu and grabbing his hand. Yoochun let Junsu's wrist slip out of his grasp.
“Nothing,” Junsu quickly said. “What are you doing here? Don't you have your study group-”
“Why are you crying?” Taegoon asked and put his hand on Junsu's cheek. “What's wrong?”
“Nothing is wrong, baby,” Junsu assured him and scraped his throat. Yoochun had been frozen in his spot up until that moment. When he finally got back to his senses he passed them, heading for the door when Taegoon grabbed him by his shoulder. “What did he do to you, Junsu?” he said and the pressure on his shoulder made Yoochun drop his books.
“He didn't do anything, Tae, let him go, “ Junsu said and Yoochun didn't miss the wave op panic in his voice. Yoochun felt like he had all the reason to punch this guy in the face, but he controlled himself.
“Then why the hell do I find you here crying and this fucker with his hands on you?”
“Fuck you,” Yoochun finally snapped and pushed Taegoon's arm off his shoulder. “What the hell makes you think I could do anything to him?”
Junsu looked from one to the other before he bend down and started gathering Yoochun's books. “Here,” he said when he got up again and pushed the books into Yoochun's hands. “I'm sorry for bothering you with everything. I won't do it again,” he said.
“You're never a bother,” Yoochun said and how on earth he managed to flirt at that moment was beyond him. He didn't do it to flirt, really. Taegoon was watching and he wanted to piss him off, so he brought one hand up to Junsu's face and brushed a strand of his bangs out of his eyes. “It was my pleasure-” he felt a hard shove against his chest and he dropped his books again. This time he didn't even hesitate. He launched forward and planted a fist in his stomach. Taegoon doubled over and Junsu shoved Yoochun away. “Stop it! Yoochun, just go already,” he said, no, he begged. Yoochun glared at the both of them and picked up his books.
“Forget what I said earlier,” he said. “Don't ever bother me again.”
