9.The Breakup

Jaejoong walked in on him ramming his fist into the door of the bathroom again and again. He ran over to him, grabbed him from behind, pulling him away from the door. Yoochun felt numb and as he allowed his friend to drag him a few feet back.

“You bashed your hand open, you fucking idiot,” Jaejoong said, pulling the bathroom door open and dragging Yoochun in with him. “He's not worth it, okay?” He put a wash cloth in the sink and soaked it in cold water before draping it over Yoochun's fist.

“Say something,” Jaejoong said and nudged Yoochun's chin up with his fingers.

“Why...why am I not good enough for him?” he asked, feeling all the energy fuelled by rage from before subside. “Why couldn't I have met him first? Why... why doesn't he like me, Jaejoong?”

Jaejoong looked completely lost at all of Yoochun's questions.

“I was so close to spilling everything. I was ready to tell that fucker I slept with his boyfriend, ready to break the up myself...but he doesn't want me. In the end he just doesn't want me.” He stared into Jaejoong's cold eyes, numbness taking over his chest. “He tried me,” he continued. “He tried me out like a piece of clothing before deciding he didn't look good enough in it...”

“Yoochun, I don't know what to say,” Jaejoong finally said. “I wish I could help, but I don't know what to do.”

“Should I just come clean? Tell Taegoon everything, wait for them to break up...”

“I don't think that's a good idea. If he likes you...if he loves you he should break it off himself. You don't want to be second choice. You're more than that. And hurting yourself like this was a fucking stupid thing to do,” he said and took the cloth off Yoochun's hand to see that the swelling had barely gone down.

“What now?” Yoochun asked. “Every time I promise myself not to go back to him...it's like I can't help it. What if he tries...what if he-”

They heard a knock on their door and froze in their spots.

“Shit,” Jaejoong hissed. “Who could that even be?”

They left the bathroom together and Jaejoong opened the door to find Taegoon standing there and Junsu right behind him.

“Taegoon, let's just go, please. I swear to god nothing happened-”

“Where is he?” Taegoon asked Jaejoong.

“Well hello to you too,” Jaejoong said.

“Are you looking for me?” Yoochun asked and pushed Jaejoong aside lightly. “What do you want?”

“I want you to apologize,” Taegoon said. “For whatever you did to him.”

“He didn't do anything!” Junsu said. “Let's just go, please!”

“Stop protecting him, Junsu, you weren't crying for nothing,” Taegoon said. “This dick needs to apologize.”

“I don't believe this,” Jaejoong sighed. “Taegoon, I really think you should leave. You don't know what you're talking about.”

“You weren't there, Jae,” Taegoon said. “He did or said something-”

“I didn't do shit, okay?” Yoochun snapped and his arms came up on their own. He shoved Taegoon into the hallway and Taegoon got a fistful of Yoochun's shirt, pulling him with him.

“Fucker,” Taegoon hissed before Yoochun felt a blow to his jaw. It was a dull ache, not enough to throw him off. He punched Taegoon right on the nose.

Two weeks of suspension and Yoochun felt screwed. He knew he was theoretically wrong for punching Taegoon in the face, because violence was never the answer, but based on how things actually had gone he thought he deserved a break. The principle clearly didn't agree with him. He had found them in the hallway, Taegoon with a crooked bloody nose and Yoochun with blood on his hand, one plus one is two and he took them with him. Taegoon got away with a week detention and Yoochun bit his tongue. He didn't want to give the principle a reason to make his own punishment worse. His parents had picked him up that afternoon, pissed of course after a long talk with the principle in which he had complained about how Yoochun had been breaking dress codes and had been 'misbehaving' for quite some time. It came as a complete shock to him. His hair was long, but no teacher had ever said much about it. He had stopped wearing a tie since freshman year, but so did half of all the students in the school.

His parents were pissed of course, and sent him to get a haircut the second they got home. His father gave him one of the longest lectures ever about controlling anger and being the bigger man and being responsible and blah blah blah, he zoned out and stared at himself in the reflection of a window, wondering what Junsu would think of his hair short like this. He had to tell himself that Junsu didn't matter anymore, that he was history, that it was his fault he was suspended to begin with. But still, Kim Junsu was the first thing that came to mind. It was the first thing he thought of when he woke up, the last thing roaming his mind before he fell asleep. It was frustrating because he knew he was supposed to be having a grudge, he was supposed to curse him out, be done with him. Yet he could only feel heartbroken in the end. He finally admitted to himself he wanted Kim Junsu all to himself and sharing him with Taegoon wouldn't do, being second choice, being a secret wouldn't do.

He wished he had had more time to think before that ugly encounter in the class room so he could have at least had his feelings on a row and he could have expressed them without turning into an emotional fuck. And Taegoon...god fuck Taegoon. Why did that guy even exist, he didn't know. To make his life harder probably. Yoochun did regret punching him in the face, because he was doing what a good boyfriend was supposed to do. On the other hand, he was fucking Junsu and just for that Yoochun wished he could have fit in a few more punches before the principle had walked in on them.

During the first week of his suspension Yoochun mainly just tried to get on his parents' good side again, sucking up to them, acting cute and finally the disappointed looks disappeared right before the first weekend.

That Friday night Yoochun didn't know whether to feel relieved or extremely disappointed about the fact that Junsu hadn't call him at all since he had gotten suspended. He wondered whether he mad he had hit his boyfriend, or if he took Yoochun's 'Don't bother me ever again' to heart.

He had spoken to Jaejoong a lot through out the week and Jaejoong let him know that things weren't going well between Junsu and Taegoon, that they were acting cold towards each other an that rumour was going around that they been fighting a lot. Yoochun would be lying if he said he didn't feel even a bit of satisfaction at those words.

It was late, very late that Friday when Yoochun did something on a whim. He put all the pictures he had taken that weekend at the stables on his computer and sent them to Junsu's email. He made sure he included the picture or them kissing. It wasn't until he had already clicked 'send' when he started having his doubts. What if Junsu completely ignored it? Did he come off too desperate?

When 'Inbox (1)' appeared on his screen he stopped breathing. It was almost 2:30 at night, he didn't expect him to be up at all...

He opened the email and read the few lines written.

/'Thanks for the pictures...they're really good. I'm so sorry you got expelled. I miss you...I know I'm out of line here, but yeah. I miss you.'/

Yoochun read it over and over again and his heart ached, it really, really...hurt. He missed him too, he wanted to hear his voice again, hear him laugh again, kiss him again, to feel good with each other again. However, at this point that wasn't going to happen.

/Break up with him./

He sent it before he could change his mind and waited. He had to sit on his hands to keep them from shaking and he had to put his feet flat on the floor. He refreshed the page five times, a minute between each time before there was finally an answer.

/I thought you'd know by now... We broke up last Tuesday. I told him I was in love with someone else and eventhough I didn't mention your name, he knows./

"How the hell was I supposed to know that if you didn't tell me?" Yoochun snapped through the phone the second Junsu picked up.

"I just thought Jaejoong or someone would have told you by now. Everyone is talking about it. Some people are even blaming you. And me of course, but that's obvious."

"Why do people care?"

"I don't know. No one wants to mind their own fucking business I guess. It's stupid."

"Are people giving you shit about it?"

"Not to my face," he said and it was quiet for a few seconds. "I was really happy when I saw you sent me those pictures. I thought you hated me."

"I tried hating you, it doesn't work."

"So..."

"So..."

"Yoochun, I don't know what to say right now. I didn't expect to be talking to you again for a long time...can we meet tomorrow? For coffee or something?"

"...Sure."
