Pots, Pans and Gratefulness
It had been an exhausting day, Super Junior's schedule had been packed with interviews and guest appearances in different variety shows, and it was still far from over for many of the groups members. However, the eternal maknae Ryeowook was in the kitchen washing the used dishes and basically trying to make the cleaning ahjumma's life easier by not leaving it a disaster area that 13 different sets of plates could create,
When he had made the offer of being in charge of cleaning the mess, he had expected someone to stay back and help him. No one stayed, it was like they had heard that the Black Plague had broken out and their kitchen was the center proliferation. Everybody had scattered, even Yesung, who usually was nice about helping him had looked at him with puppy eyes and said that he regretted it, BUT he had to go record his part of the new song. Ryeowook had been put out at that because it was technically true and he couldn't fault Yesung about it, though it could have been postponed for thirty minutes while they washed the dishes.
He hadn't noticed that the second eldest hyung had hung back for a bit and then had run out the door to execute some mysterious errand that only his overly excitable and complicated mind could comprehend.
He hadn't noticed when said hyung had slammed the door shut as he returned carrying a box filled with strange things, like multicolered spheres, and was that a snow machine?
As Ryeowook was drying the dishes, pots aIt wa he suddenly heard a loud shout, "AAAARGH!!!!" Ryeowook almost jumped out of his skin thinking something had happened, and then the person who had shouted continued his tirade, " It's so hot!! I can't BEAR IT ANY LONGER!!!!!"
Ryeowook looked at the mess he still hadn't finished cleaning up, and was just about ready to ignore the sound, but obviously if the person was being so loud, it's because they wanted someone to hear and ask what was the matter, and since he was the only one here he should go ask him.
Heechul-hyung is so melodramatic. aish, I still have things to do though, can't he choose to be melodramatic at some other moment, preferebly when I'm not the one who is alone with him!!
Ryeowook knew that Heechul wasn't mean or even really cold-hearted as he appeared to be, but he hadn't managed to make a friendly connection with him yet. They still had those awkward silences where they didn't know what to say but didn't want to turn away for fear of offending the other party.That's why they usually hung out with at least one other person with them to lighten the atmosphere up and make it easier for conversation to flow.
So with some trepidation he knocked on the door to Heechul's room. The door opened so fast that Ryeowook wasn't able to see anything else besides the Huge I Caught You! grin on Heechul's face, before he was pulled aside, blindfolded and then escorted into the room.
"Um hyung, what are you doing?" Ryeowook would have normally been scared to be blindfolded and the led away, but since it was Heechul who did it, there was only curiousity in what could possibly be the reason for his current predicament.
Heechul answered readily and with a wicked laughing lilt to his voice, "What would you say if I said that I was going to ravish you, blow your mind away, and basically just have my way with you?"
Ryeowook would have been scared at this point if he hadn't known that there was someone else in Heechul's life who would not forgive such a thing. "I would say that you might have to run far away after the fact, because I don't think that Kyuhyun could forgive you for betraying him. Your family jewels would be in danger if he ever caught you."
Heechul growled, a bit put out that Ryeowook hadn't taken him seriously at all " What you think I'm scared of Kyuhyun? I'm not his bitch."
Ryewook started laughing, but tried to soothe Heechul's ruffled feathers " No, no, you're not scared and you're certainly nobody's bitch. However, you wouldn't really set out to hurt Kyuhyun by doing what you've suggested."
"FIne you got me, but I do have a surprise for you. As a thank you. Here let me take off the blindfold." Carefully Heechul stepped around Ryeowook and with a little pull at the ends of the silk scarf it became undone.
Taking in his surrounding, Ryeowook's eyes widened in appreciation his hands came up to his mouth as he covered his exclamations of surprise and awe. "wow! How wonderful!" Everywhere there was white snow, he reached out to touch the snow that was covering the whole room from the floor to the bed, but Heechul slapped his hand away," only see don't touch, you'll take away the effect if you actually touch it"
"There's Christmas lights! Oh! ...You even have a little tree decorated with all the trimmings!" He went over to examine the ornaments and he saw that each little ornament had faces of their members and their friends and family.
"This must have taken you so much time to put together! Why did you do it for me?" Ryeowook's eyes started to tear in happiness as he looked around at this handmade Winter Wonderland that his hyung had created for him.
Heechul blushed hotly as ryeowook stared at him in gratefulness. "It's an I'm sorry, and an I'm so thankful to you event."
"What are you sorry and thankful for?" asked Ryeowook still spacing out and looking around in complete wonder at how many details there had been placed on decorations. even the windows had been frosted.
"I'm sorry that I haven't been that good a hyung to you, last christmas I didn't even wish you a good one, I meant to, but one thing led to another and time passed and then would have been strange to wish you a happy christmas, so I never did. And then I'm also very grateful for your quiet help, for not complaining even when we hyungs ask too much of you, also I want to say thank you for taking care of Kyuhyun when I'm not around." After saying his little spiel Heechul looked around and headed to his little fridge where he took out a box.
"Here, this is also for you, hope you enjoy it... maybe you could share it with Yesung? It's an chocolate icecream cake to bring you all the coolness of winter."
Ryeowook smiled wildly and instead of just taking the box he dove under and hugged Heechul at the waist. " Thank you! this will be an awesome memory forever!" Heechul smiled and held the cake box with one hand and patted ryeowook softly on the back in acknowledgement.
When the rest of the members showed up later that night, they noticed that the silence between Ryeowook and Heechul was no longer awkward but was instead the silence of a comfortable comraderie. When Yesung asked why Ryeowook's hair had fluffy white make believe snow, Ryeowook and Heechul shared a secret smile of fellow conspirators. What had happened would be their friendship secret.
