Yamapi co-hosting a variety show with Imada-san!
『Generation Tengoku』
Special thanks to kyara and watchful21
★ What did you think when you first heard that you two were going to co-host?
Imada I thought that Yamapi is a heartening partner. We have female viewers in their teens and twenties, right? I will take him in right away (laugh). Oh, this is the first time I call him “Yamapi.” I always called him “Yamashita-kun,” but I was just showing off, putting some cold distance between us (laugh).
Yamashita It was so natural I didn’t even notice (laugh). This time I want to learn from Imada-san how to expand the conversation with the guests that I’ll be meeting for the first time.
Imada First just hop in on the convo, then just be honest with how you feel then.
Yamashita I'll hop in! (laugh)
Imada He’s truly diligent inside. So much that, when it was decided for him to co-host this program, he apparently went and bought the book 『京大卒芸人が教えるスベらない話し方』[lit.: A performer graduate of Kyoto university teaches how to talk without blundering]. Just how diligent is he (laugh). No good, no good. Just go with the flow!! I want to impart irresponsibility to him (laugh).
★ It’s almost Valentine’s Day, so taking on the theme of this program, “The generation gap,” please tell us the the gap between you of the female that makes your heart twinge a little.
Yamashita When a girl seems flashy in appearance but is actually considerate and uses polite words when speaking.
Imada As for me, when she looks like a good girl and is perfect no matter how you look at her, but behind the scenes she would use foul language like, “To be honest, that truly pissed me off!” I like that. It’s human. I find that frankness that she would show only me irresistible.
★ There’s a 19-year difference between you two. Is there some fad you envy of each other’s teen years?
Imada I envy all the commodities, but on the other hand I’m glad I was born back then. For example, squeezing out our wit to get our hands on porn magazines was fun. Now you can find it easily on the net, so there’s no stimulus.
Yamashita I envy Imada-san who was able to know the lively “bubble” period. I wish I could have lived in it in my twenties. I would have wanted to go to the disco.
★ Please send a message to the readers of ST!!
Imada In the program we also talk about fashion and how people used to have fun in the past. I wish everyone could enjoy watching while comparing the past to the present.
Yamashita I think seeing how things differ so much in 20~30 years is a good stimulus. Besides, it’s my first experience as an MC, so I would be happy if you could enjoy the program with your families!
