Tunnels and holes

Oct 17, 2006 14:20

Now I wanted to take some really impressive pictures, but the thing is when you're in a tunnel, there is no light, so this is the best I got (I am standing at the bottom of the hole looking up). It reminds me of album art but I can't think what album.

And what, pray tell, were we doing at the bottom of a hole? And what WAS this hole?

Love the country pics, and that first misty lane pic is just _wow_

Haha...it's not as exciting as it sounds, we were walking through a tunnel (about half a mile long) and that hole was a vent(? there is probably a more correct name for it).

Thanks^_^

Damn...your pictures always blow me away. I especially like the hole and the pathway ones. I miss taking pictures. I dunno tho...I haven't been really inspired to take any lately.

^___^ Thank you!

So what used to inspire you?
I love architecture, industrial or broken stuff, trees, but I find people hard, inspiring but...hard.

What used to inspire me to take pictures? Hmm...I guess mostly people. My group of friends really inspire me and I'm usually taking pictures of them. I also wanted to make a picture book of people driving. Have you ever looked at someone in the next car over from you? Most of the time they have this blank sorta expression. Or sometimes they're singing to the radio. Or laughing with a friend. Candid shots of people driving, that sorta thing.

Now days my inspiration is in other things I guess. I have other projects and endeavors that take up my time. And I'm lazy...hehe. I used to always carry some sorta camera with me. Now the only thing on me that counts as a camera is my phone. And I never take pics with that piece of shit.

You are going to cross the English Channel? You are going to be a pentathlon atlete? You want to venture deeper in that well? I´ll wait for the next episode. I don´t know about "total immersion", it´s the first time I hear about it and it sounds too new age for my liking... Hmm, I´ve been reading about it a bit and the techniques seem fairly sensible and hardly revolutionary, it´s the new age rethoric and self-hype that I don´t enjoy so much. They want to make it sound as if "traditional swimming teachers" would only teach to kick and stroke harder and faster, which I find very doubtful. It´s not like they´ve discovered hydrodynamics.

You're right it is (mostly) common sense, and most really good swimmers DO swim like this as it is the easiest thing to do.
But if you haven't really swam front crawl since school, and you don't want to look like you're drowning/fighting with a fish, then I think it's helpful.
(Most school swim teachers don't/didn't teach swimming like this...I was taught to kick hard and go as fast as I could...)

That's about right ;o) The SWIMMING techniques aren't (all) different/new though there IS a greater emphasis on working with (not against) the water. What IS different is the way that the swimming techniques of really great, "natural" swimmers are TAUGHT to the masses, bypassing years of experimentation with stroke variations etc. I swim with a Triathlon club, and opinion there is that there ARE subtle differences between TI and traditional swimming (some good, some bad). I personally think it is a fantastic TEACHING method and good luck with it!!!
