As some of you know I recently went to Las Vegas. On the way I visited my grandma and she gave me a recipe book that her family put together. It has some of my old time faves. I will mainly being putting up recipes, for the next few entries, from this book :)
Apple Dumplings
Mix and heat for syrup:
1/2 cup butter
2 cups of water
2 cups of sugar
cinnamon
Mix like pie dough:
3 cups flour
2/3 cup of shortening
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
Dice 9 apples and divide into 6 piles.
Divide dough into six parts. Roll out each. Place each pile of apples on each piece of rolled out dough.
Put some syrup in the bottom of 9x13 inch baking pan. Place each dumpling in pan and put a little syrup over apples then close dough around apples. When all dumplings are in the pan, pour the rest of the syrup over top of all the dumplings.
Bake 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
