They are so cute, but then I've never met a puppy that I didn't fall in love with immediatly:) I'll check today to make sure they all found homes, they don't deserve to die just beacause they were born.
There probably is, and the owner was too lazy or dumb to check out that option. Some phone calls will be made today. A good friend of mine lives in Indy and they have a feral cat program there-they get caught, fixed, and then released again (if not adopted) if I understood it correctly. She's gotten a few taken care of, and has adopted a couple of them.
They don't have to be put down-the owner is just not taking any responsibility for the litter and is probably tired of taking care of them. She could at least take them to the humane society-the whole thing infuriates me.
i agree! maybe you can offer to take ALL that she has left and then take them to the HS yourself? or keep them, everyone needs a golden retreiver. ot two. ;)
We've got 3 dogs here now, so i really can't take them. But I will offer to take them to the humane society for her. Then I'll end up checking to make sure they all get adopted out. I hate this! I don't know how Bernie does this all the time, I'd be a crazy person in no time at all-or a person who has hundreds of animals that you'll read about on the news someday:)
I used to do volunteer work for a local kennel club, and take the phone calls for months at a time. One time a woman called wanting to know what was wrong with her dogs (she had littermates-one of each sex) that the male was trying to breed the bitch. I could NOT get it through her head that she needed to seperate them (or spay/neuter) because she honestly believed that because they were brother & sister, that they would know better than to breed. She thought the problem was with the dogs being stupid, when it wsa actually her being really stupid!
Good question! It's such a simple concept that I've been ranting about for years & years. So many misconceptions out there that the animal is not "complete & happy" until it's had a litter, or their dogs are special and they have people WAITING for THEIR puppies, or my all time favorite is that they will make a ton of money by breeding-I've heard it all. They're all walking around with blinders on, refusing to look at the numbers of animals that are put down by the shelters or simply abandoned.
