Summary: Drabble. For the first time in his life, Ed has found himself questioning Equivalent Exchange.
You know, I think I finally realized it… For the longest time I’ve been trying to understand how equivalent exchange played into my losses, but I could never quite figure it out. Of course, that was before I got back to Resembool.
Winry is my equivalent exchange. That’s what I’ve gained, someone who will always be there for me. The stupid thing is she was there before I even had something to lose. Throughout my whole childhood Winry was only a few houses away, but I was too thick to understand that I had everything I needed right there.
Now though, I know that no matter what I can always go back to Resmebool and she’ll be there waiting for me. Maybe with that damn wrench in her hand, but even a sore spot or two is a small price to pay for her love. Things are definitely equivalent right now, and they’re going to stay that way.
I guess I’ve finally come to terms with the way things are and the way they’re going to be. Actually, I have a feeling that things are going to change…
I’m ready for it.
