I've noticed lately that as I get older I learn life lessons with increasing frequency. I think I learn 2-3 life lessons a week right now. i agree in the sense that advice from friends or even friendly advice used to *shape* the way i thought, whereas now if i get advice i tend to weigh it against my own understanding and then consider whether it has merit or not.

that being said, i'm only 24. there is a hell of a lot more wisdom to be had, and the advice/wisdom/personal experiences of a good friend is almost always invaluable, even if incorrect.

Correctomundo. The one thing I've learned very quickly by moving to New York is that I miss the advice of my friends, even the bad advice. Not because I feel I need advice, but the fact that there is someone trying their best to put themselves in my situation implies a level of empathy that I never realized I'd miss until I left for here (NYC isn't the most empathetic place in the world).

But you're definetly right Josh. As I have become older, I don't think I ever ask a friend for advice intending on finding a solution for a problem. Mainly it's just me needing to feel like I'm not a complete freak or somethin'.
