M&M Gang Wars

hokay, so..

Walgreen's has this promo thing.. every month we have an item at the register we are supposed* to suggestive sell to every customer. This month it is Pirates of the Carribean M&M packages White chocolate m&ms**. We are awarded for our efforts with a small commision***.

Right. now that you have the basics.

So my "goal" as front cashier is 30-40 bags per shift depending on the day.

I noticed that I wasn't the top seller in our store****, so bieng the competitive freak I am, I decided that I would try to meet my quota (as the top seller had not). After Several unsuccesful tries I figured out that if I offered M&Ms to every 3rd customer or so, Having most of them accept because im SOOO charming ;0, I would meet my "goal" easily. Having done that 2 or 3 shifts in a row my managers were VERY pleased with me and urged everyone else to meet thiers aswell*^^.

And a couple of my co-workers did.. and did so better that I. ..

Spurred on by this challange, I Sold in one shift 108 bags.. and put our store at 2nd in the district*^^ I was highly praised for this and quite proud of myself.

A couple of days later I came in to find that my Record had been broken. The store in clayton had also been moved to compete with me. This woman had sold 150 bags. I decided that I would ask every customer to See how that would improve my #s. It wasnt as successful as I had hoped .. we had a slow night so I only came in at 91 bags. however I knew that today bieng Saturday.. and the day right before Father's day we would have a LOT of business. I had my Mission.

I didnt want to sell Just more than 150.. I wanted to blow this Lady out of the water. I set out to do just that. I asked EVERY customer, explaining to most that I was in a competition with another store.. and that I recieved a commission. That information coupled with the fact that they were 3/1$*^^^ sold a ton. I am not even sure how many.. a rough guess would be around 200 bags. At several points I ran out and had to get some from the candy aisle.. which is completely wiped now btw. I ran out of every thing but plain for about an hour or so.. I sold Everything else.. I was Begging my managers to bring me more of any thing else.*^^^ Luckily we got a delivery that had some with peanuts come in and they brought me the whole case lol. Some customers went so far as to buy 6 or more bags just to help compete. LOL I turned it into a competition between towns.. A couple times even noting the fact with the customer that "Clayton may be rich, but Florissant is determined"

Im really excited to find out just how many I did sell.

*We have a "Goal" (quota) that we are to meet and if you do not (habitually) the managers are not pleased.. and you may or may not be repremanded in some manner, as it affects the District quotas.

**the White chocolate are new, but the regular, peanut..ect are also on sale 2/1$ or 3/1$ w/coupon(my main selling point).

***we recieve .05/ bag sold and I think a personal bonus for bieng top seller. The store gets accredited for all sales of promo items aswell.

****The sales results (per person, per store and the district total) are posted daily.

*^They posted notes by the time clock about how well I was doing. I really hope noone gets upset with me for raising the bar, they dont all know me that well yet and I AM kind of a go getter..

*^^We are a high volume store and have a "handicap" so to speak as the lower volume stores cannot possibly compete if they just dont have the business.

*^^^I kept a coupon handy using it for every customer and saturday was the end of the sale/coupon.

*^^^^I had a manager searching the stock room for more M&Ms of a diffrent flavor As those are The better sellers.

we might have to have a rumble.. *begins to snap*
