At this point, I'm quite curious as to why she has absolutely no money with her. Just some questions I'm thinking as a reader: Did something go awry with her teaching job for the last year? Is the farm more than she and her sister can monetarily manage? Was that brief reference to caring for their grandfather (I think, I'm sorry if I'm wrong here) the reason for her lack of funds?

If I missed the reasoning for this as I was reading, my sincere apologies!

Buying the farm was probably a foolish move, financially for the girls, but they are living the life they want to be living, so that makes it worth it.

Do you think I need to beef up some of that info?

I can explain that raising a specialty item like horses means that they can't handle any shortfall by running their expensively bred animals through an auction to raise cash -- they will bring at least one $0 (prior to 911) shy of their "real" value if they could locate the type of buyer specialty stock demands.

I raise horses in real life, and just heard two days ago from an owner who was bragging about the mare she got from me way back when. I seriously DO put on my adoption hat when I sell them.

BTW, the horses mentioned later on really do exist, and are acting in ways that they really did in real life. Both are long ago sold, but, I can post web site photos, I think.
