I don't think you need the first part; I like it just jumping into it with this part. It's more dramatic.

I actually wrote what I wrote before reading this stuff, and they turn out to fit very well together.

I think you should put the part I wrote up here too. Format it however you need to (I have some italics and stuff). That way we'll keep the whole story in one place, and your blog gets a lot more hits than mine.
