pipes are frozen!

For the fifth (let's count that: one...two...thee...four...five) time in the past five months, we have no water. This time, however, it's for a new and exciting reason: our pipes are frozen! As Dad says, "not good." And, of course, the plumber won't come until Monday. Anyone have a bathroom I can use ( Read more... )

Are these pipes accessible? If they are all you need is one of those nifty little portable propane torches and you go and thaw them out. My dad used to have to do it all the time (well, as all the time as we get a hard freeze here), probably still does for that matter. Did you leave the water running before it froze?

Yeah, so last night at about 3:30am the water started running again. I dunno if it was 'cause we turned up the heat, or if it got warmer outside, but they're working again. What a relief, huh?

One of the really nice things about Chapel Hill is that it's generally nice enough in the winter to go for a walk. Cold and icy and snowy here-- not exactly walk weather.

And now we're leaving a faucet dripping!
