You're in Prince George... it's your god-given right to own a pickup truck ;) I just got my new car too: a '96 Ford Taurus wagon!! People laugh until I tell them that it seats seven people and can carry a canoe on top. Plus it came with a phenomenal name... The Silver Bullet.
PS: I like how you say you're gonna run 20K tomorrow like it's no big deal. I would die!
Haha, true enough. The smaller the town, the bigger the vehicles! The Silver Bullet sounds sweeeeet. Vehicles that carry tons of people = A++.
Oh, it's still a big deal, trust me. It won't feel good at all. But when I think about when 5k was nearly impossible, I guess it's pretty cool that I can go so far. But I won't brag until I've done it. ;)
Yay! A Jennounou post! :Dms_firecrackerMay 26 2009, 17:07:00 UTC
Yay for summer! I'm excited for you, I think you should spend your first week off just being the laziest mofo on the planet. Really go all out, guilt free! You deserve it! MORE EXCLAMATION MARKS

I would totally take a week off and do absolutely nothing, but my Frenchie thing starts the Monday after our last day! Ryan's gonna drive me down to Vancouver, so I barely even get a chance to breathe before I'm off travelling. But it's okay, it'll be worth it! I'll rest when I get back in mid-July

I was surprised I did the run in that time - it's what I aim for, to do 6-minute kms - but with all the walking breaks, hills, and near paralysis at the end, I thought I was moving at a snail's pace. I hope I can keep it up for the race, but I don't have a time goal or anything, I just want to finish it.
If I'd known sooner that I was going to be in the position all year, I could've had my cheques stretched out this year too. But the form has to be submitted by the first week of September, and I wasn't actually given the contract until the end of the month. The nice thing about next year is that I get a raise, so I probably won't even notice a difference in my paycheques. At least I hope not. Especially if I decide to go for the truck.
matt beemer drives a blue toyota tacoma. bit of overkill for vancouver, but i can see how it would be beneficial in PG! i've driven matt's truck a few times and even though it's a "small" truck, it still felt massive on the roads. i had to try and parallel park it outside our house once and ended up having to austin-powers it into the spot because it was so big and my depth perception was way off. but i think once you get the hang of something that size then you'd be sweet

I guess driving a truck is something I'll definitely have to get used to - assuming I even get one. :)
I thought I told you about the half when I was there for Britney!! Or maybe that was when we were driving to the airport... I'm sure I've mentioned it in a post somewhere in the last little while though! Question: why do people taper? And how come in the training programs in John Stanton's book do you never actually run the full distance of the race before race day? That scares me! D:
