Okay, I take back all the nice things I said about our hotel in Edmonton, Matrix. I noticed an extra 90-dollar charge from them on my VISA this morning, and when I called to ask about it, I got the runaround and they told me it was Expedia that put it there. Interesting, since I didn't book with Expedia, I booked with hotels.ca (though I guess they ( Read more... )

Dispute the charge through your credit card. That's always worked faster for me. Plus the douches you're dealing with at the hotel will respond to VISA faster than they respond to an individual with a complaint.

Thanks, I think this is what I'll do. I think I sound too nice on the phone, and they figure they can blow me off. Well I have a better idea: they can just blow me!

UGH. I HATE WHEN PEOPLE DO DOUCHEY THINGS LIKE THAT.

Definitely go through Visa now. You've tried your best, they are clearly not addressing your issue, it's time to call the big guns in. Hopefully you have something that can prove you left when you did-- your check out bill or a gas charge on your visa in BC later the day you checked out.

Either way, let us know how it works out.

I just called and they said they've started the investigation, but that it'll take 4-6 weeks. D: At least they suspended the charge for now! I don't know if I still have the gas receipts, and Ryan paid the last time we gassed up, but I do have charges on my VISA *in* BC on August 2, when the hotel said we checked out. And damn, I should've gotten a receipt or something when we left... the lady said we were taken care of, and I thought we were! But it was all LIES, LIIIEEES!

I'm gonna send a letter to RBC VISA too explaining why I disputed, cuz the girl I talked to in customer service didn't really ask me any questions and I want them to know that I HAVE DETAILS AND DATES AND TIMES, dammit. :P

BAH! This is the second bad experience I've had with booking hotels online, even though this time it's the actual hotel and not Expedia that's screwing me over.

As long as you don't have to pay for it right now, it's not so bad that you have to wait. But yah, maybe make a copy of anything you did keep proving when you were in BC, etc on August 2nd and send it in with the letter (or even better, fax it in!). I wouldn't have gotten another receipt either! Usually they just slip an invoice under your door and that's it!

It sucks that you have so many problems with online hotel bookings. :\ Usually I book online too, but through the hotel's website itself. I don't know if that makes any difference though.

I started the process, so I hope it works! It'll take 4-6 weeks, unfortunately, but VISA at least suspended the charge for now.
