Without curiosity, we'd live in the stone age

Without hope for something better tomorrow we'd all crawl under rocks and die (although I had an interesting discussion recently about how hard it would be to actually crawl under a rock to die. The conclusion of the discussion was that in order to become strong enough to crawl under a rock to die you'd have to spend your whole life working out. Unless I suppose you're a small but relatively strong person, in which you could crawl under a small rock to die).
