For those of you who haven't heard of it, or don't know exactly what it is... I have Charcot Marie Toothe disease. It's a neuromuscular form of Muscular Dystrophy that runs in my family. Basically, the nerves that control my muscles are degenerating. I'm not going to sit here and explain it since I'm tired of explaining it to everyone I meet, ( Read more... )

You'll be fine. I know you will because you are a rockstar and you can do anything.

I think, for the most part, you're looking at it with the correct type of attitude. Always think positive. That's right, don't think of yourself as handicapped, and it won't get you down so much. However, I wouldn't fight it to the point of stressing you out and making yourself miserable. I'm legally blind in my left eye and that leaves me with little to no depth perception, but it's fine 'cause I've always had it and it's just a part of me. Sometimes I can't play sports and can't do very little things in an experiment correctly without missing, but once you accept that you will need help on some things (not ALL things, clearly), you can better explain that to your friends and family.

At some point, I think everyone will get used to it and they won't swamp you, nor will you feel the urge to throttle them when they keep offering help. ^^; *hug*

Sorry, I don't know if that made sense. @_@ I'm rambling.

I <3 you, too :D

Lol, I saw this one girl once who said, "The next person who tells me I'm an 'inspiration' or to just 'keep trying' is going to get it!"

Feel free to rant and rave all you want and/or need, we'll still listen.

Sorry we couldn't make it this past weekend, Christina had a death in the family and traveled to Michigan for the funeral with her mom. Still need to get you a day away so you can come down to Dekalb again...

You guys are awesome, really. Tell Christina I'm sorry for her loss... I was just in that place a few weeks ago and I know it's not a fun place to be.
I absolutely want to get down there for a night sometime, it all depends on when I can get someone to stay with the kids AND if Huck got some time off work/school (not likely) at the same time :P Lol, maybe I should ask him to babysit and come down myself!

Anywho, we're doing another get-together next Sat night if you guys want to come! Nothing special, just a few friends coming by to hang out, but we're fun :)

The trade off is the security you will know for the first time. You will be able to walk anywhere without thinking where your feet are. That's my favorie part!

Pfff, I just want to walk anywhere without everything hurting. That's good enough for me, lol. On the other hand, I'm slowly finding the benefits to the arm braces. Once in awhile I'll do something I normally have to be really careful about or something that usually I can't do at all, and I'll go, "Oh hey! I can do this now!" I'm not sure when I'll stop being shocked about it.

Then the other 23.75 hours of the day I just hate on them :P
