Everything is closed. Shuttered, grated, gated. If not, then it's bolted down or vacated. Or in the case of my local little police booth (in the plaza-let Griselda Hinojosa), smashed in. The dogs don't know anything is up, or maybe it seems like an eclipse. Unexpected but not quite worrisome. I saw the one I call Fred nosing around in flowerbeds ( Read more... )

That's crazy. And I thought UPR riots were bad. o_O (They are, just not as bad as what you're describing.)

It never got like that on the coast where I lived. Sometimes I wish I were in Santiago in the center of it all and other times I'm glad I wasn't. Must be interesting to witness all of this unfold.

Not all Universities were closed. Just the "complicated" ones, like mine. I heard one of PUC's campuses had to close during the morning because of the riots, but I'm pretty sure the rest were open.

I defer. But a number of them were closed, and ARCIS, for example, was shuttered at night though perhaps it wasn't "technically closed."

But ARCIS is one of the problematic ones. I'm pretty sure it was also shut down last year.
Most of my friends had classes on thursday, while I had a very long weekend :P

I guess I have not been here long enough to know which ones are problematic and which are not. I have some clues, but ARCIS has been pretty much silent since I've been living across the street (14 mos).
