RAPE IS NOT SURPRISE SEX!!!
Ok...just so I don't freak anyone out...this is entirely about what happened in a role playing game...not real life!
So today in BESM Sean's character lost all of his control (he botched his self control check) and raped Ashley's character. This wouldn't have been a big deal except for the fact that it
A: Made Ashley really upset.
B: Sean kept making stupid out of game comments such as "it's not rape...it's surprise sex." and "She was asking for it!"
C: He didn't apologize to Ashley about his actions in game and how they upset her. Also he didn't ok it with her before hand.
D: He still wanted to bring in another pervert character (after Greg killed his old one) when everyone else in the game had been having issues with his character with the exception of Dutra. (I'd like to think that Dutra wouldn't have been with Sean on this one but as he wasn't there I can't say anything really).
E: The fact that John as a game master allowed Sean to do what he did.
Ok...done making points. I just really hated the fact that to Sean it was all just a joke. The fact that he didn't even think that he had taken it too far is disturbing to me. There are so many guys like that who hang out in the lounge. It makes me feel unsafe as a woman to be surrounded by guys who think rape is just a joke. I don't know anyone who I know for a fact was raped and hopefully I never will. I will not tolerate being in a role playing game where that kind of thing is allowed to happen. I feel that this is the most reprehensible behaviour I've seen from a guy in a long time. In all my years of role playing (not that they're that many) I have never witnessed something get so out of hand and go so far beyond the acceptable.
Ok...now that that's out of my system...
Today was a pretty good day. I didn't have any work to do for today and won't have much work to do for a little while. Not that it'll be smooth sailing but compared to Greg I have it way easy. Anyway, the sooner I finish this the sooner I can get soup and bread...mmmm...bread...
