What does 'karma' mean to you?

Buffy isn't sure she believes in karma --
which, she supposes, is odd for somebody who has died twice and is still walking around. Actually, she knows plenty of people who have died and are still walking around -- Angel, Spike, and Darla, as obvious starting points. But it's not as though any of them have new lives, or new selves. Buffy is pretty much the self she always was. Of course, dying and coming back changed her, but in the same way that her dead leaving, or sending Angel to hell, or her mom dying, or moving to Rome changed her. She's not sure how it is for the vampires -- current or ex -- but Buffy feels like she's the same person.
Giles never said anything to her about reincarnation. The only person she knows who actually seems to believe in reincarnation is the Immortal. He's always talking about how the lover he lost a thousand years ago keeps coming back, and he keeps missing her. Which may or may not be true. Buffy half-suspects it's a line that he came up with to avoid any kind of long term commitment. This feeling has only been reinforced by his recent decision to marry a woman who in no way resembles his alleged lost princess. Besides, Todd and Piper seem to be pretty damn happy, and Buffy can't imagine that's a karmic reward for anything the Immortal can possibly have done. Or maybe Piper has enough karma for both of them. Whatever.
Anyway, if karma works, it means you get rewarded for your good deeds and punished for your bad ones. But, the way she figures it, giving her life to save Dawn was about as high up there on the good deed poll as you could get -- not that she's proud of it or anything; it wasn't even premeditated. She just did it, like she does everything, because it seemed to make sense at the time. And, after that, well -- she's been mocked for it on more than one occasion, but she really does believe she was in heaven. It was only coming back to Earth that sucked. Of course, now she's glad it happened. She's happy to be alive, even if she's not sure what she's doing with that life. For now, she guesses, that's a start.

To everyone:
Karma, isn't that some kind of Ipod clone? Or something you buy at the health food store? Or are we thinking of the John Lennon song?
Anyway, I'm back in Boston. I think Dad's actually going to help me pay for college, which I guess is what I want? Weirdness. Anyway, I'll be looking for a place and just sort of hanging out and slaying until the semester starts.
Anybody with leads on a place to rent (preferably one NOT owned by some manifestation of the Todd Campbell economic machine) or maybe even a non-sucky parttime job? Just . . . nothing where I have to smell like organic fake meat, OK?
