The symptoms you describe are exactly what my Jeep had been doing for a while leading up to this. And yes, I switched to 10-W 40 but that didn't make much difference. Not even a new oil pump made a difference. Be wary lest yours do to you what mine's done to me. I've seen this problem described on the Jeep forums as well. Basically, mine did this that bit with the oil pressure intermittently for months exactly as you described, and my mechanic thought it was just a misbehavior of the sending unit that feeds the gauge, since every time he checked my oil pressure the pressure was fine and he couldn't reproduce the problem... until I got back from Maryland.
Best of luck to you, and I hope yours doesn't get like mine!

I know that public transportation can be cumbersome in getting from one place to another, but maybe that could be an option if and when you find work? As for work, I'm going through that whole rigamarole myself, and despite a couple of temp assignments, I stil have no steady income. Thankfully, I've been keeping myself afloat. It won't be this bad for me forever, and it won't for you either. :)

I'm not unemployed. I work forty hours a week. I'm just transportation-challenged. At present I'm looking into ways I can just bail on the Jeep and acquire a different vehicle without going completely broke in the process.
