*bangs head on desk*

So... the water to my house got shut off this morning, on what may well turn out to be one of the hottest days of the year. Have I mentioned the landlord is an idiot?

We're pretty sure it isn't, and my ex has decided that unless he gets some satisfaction from this guy in the next day or two regarding how things will proceed from this point forward, he's going to call the city and ask for an inspection of the premises. We're already aware of a number of code violations, including the absence of detectors for smoke and carbon monoxide just to name a biggie. In addition, there's the ceiling light in the kitchen that's been out of order since last fall (we light the kitchen with a pair of lamps rigged to illuminate the most-used work surfaces), which the landlord has promised on multiple occasions to fix but hasn't. And of course, the window screens with holes in them (I've fixed one or two myself out of sheer desperation to be able to have those windows open, in my room for instance) and the couple of windows that don't actually latch ( ... )

Any further progress with either getting landlord to clean up their act as such or in escaping their clutches?

Heh, funny I see this just now that I'm coming back to post more on LiveJournal (because Facebook is pissing me the hell off at the moment with automated algorithms ( ... )
