Thank goodness that's all it was! I have to think that the dentist(s) involved knew that's what it was, but were playing it safe. I used to manage a DDS office, and 99.9999% of the oral cancer patients there were regular Skoal users or smoked cigars. I have a hunch you don't fit into either of those categories ;-)

I chew the inside of my cheek as a nervous habit and sometimes the sides of my tongue. It freaks the dentist out when I go for dental appointments for the same reason as you just experienced. That inside cheek thing, by the way is, I meant in my mouth. I'm not that flexible. What were you thinking?
Well glad it was nothing serious. I wonder if they do this screening thing and scare the shit out of people for the money or the entertainment.
