I feel like sharing my sensory deprivation tank experience. I feel almost like I'm in a trance. Everything feels peaceful. What's kind of crazy is I actually HATED being in the tank....there was no epiphanys..I kept getting salt in my eyes and water in my ears ( Read more... )

Whoa I just realized I've been putting myself in a sensory deprivation tank on a regular basis.

I fill the bath with hot water and completely submerge myself on my back with only my face (nose and mouth) above water. I also often add epsom salt. I pull the curtain closed and turn out the bathroom light so it's pretty dark. I'll float like that for 30 minutes to an hour.

Weird, right?

I didn't know sensory deprivation tanks were a real thing. But I like them. Or think I like them.

hahah Yeah it sounds like you've been putting yourself in one for sure! Now just add a few more pounds of epsom salt and feel the float and your there!

Yeah, I still feel insanely relaxed from the experience. They say it's just a way to get more "rest" cause ya know..all us animals need real rest!

I'll have to try your technique..gotta say I love me some baths as well..something about submerging your body in hot water just feels sooo nice.

sounds a lot like meditation. when you start to get deeper, or become more aware, it can be uncomfortable, but typically when you're done you feel lighter and refreshed regardless. and sessions always vary.
