a rant from a barista.... if you don't want it, don't read it...

Amen sista! Seriously, I agree with your mandatory customer service gig.

When I worked at Video Cellar, I had arseholes that would call at busy time on Friday, Saturday and ask what new releases we still had in stock.

Get off your arse and come and find out!

that's like the people who phone in the middle of our rush and ask what time we're open till. or if we're open at all. jerks.

I feel your pain. I very very much feel your pain.
I once had someone on their cellphone tell me to "hold on" when I asked them what I could get for them. Uh....no? Needless to say I moved on to the next customer.

I've had my share of snooty coffee people...hoo boy...NEVER AGAIN! Everytime I go to a coffee shop, let me tell you, I'm nice as pie. :)

I (heart) you, Athena, and feel your pain completely. What I used to do was give those people who pissed me off decaf, but I guess you don't have the power to do that at Starbucks. Rest assured though, sometimes the assholes of the consumer world *do* get punished.

There are reasons and reasons that I nearly always clean up my table whenever I'm at a coffee shop or in a food-court type of area. Yes, there are staff. I've once or twice had a food tray that I was carrying towards the garbage/tray dump 'appropriated' by said staff, who with a big smile did it for me. *THAT* is customer service!

I've worked in a community centre, in general and in the canteen specifically. Believe me I hear you.

I actually suggested this to the girl who does the tips and she likes it. she'll in turn suggest it to the manager. this is good cuz it seems a lot less like "athena is full of rage" suggestion and more "naomi is smart and practical" suggestion. thanks mike!
