The first time Taeyeon ever laid eyes on Jessica, she was already captivated by the girl’s beauty. Whether or not the girl was aware of Taeyeon’s lingering stares was unbeknownst; but Jessica did feel the yearning in Taeyeon’s touch whenever their hands meet for a millisecond.
The way the two met might be odd to the eyes of onlookers, but to Jessica it was more than that.
…
“You’re very pretty; will you go out with me?”
“W-what?”
Jessica was never the type to fall for tricks like these. They are all the same, she tells herself.
First, they charm you with sweet words, bring you home, do whatever they want with you and push you away like a piece of trash. Jessica knows it too well.
“My friends over there, they think we should date”
Taeyeon points to her left where a bunch of high school kids, ranging from the age of sixteen to seventeen, stand. They were all excitedly whispering something Jessica couldn’t hear, but she was pretty sure she heard the word ‘blind’ coming out from one of the girl’s mouth. She slightly frowns and clutches her cane-stick closer to her body, ready to use it as a weapon in case this strange girl tries to do anything ridiculous.
“Don’t worry; I don’t really care if you can’t see. I want to be your eyes”
….
“Why did you do it?”
“Do what?”
“Ask me out. You know I can’t do anything, I’m nothing but a burden to you”
Taeyeon angrily lets go of Jessica’s hand and storms out of the apartment they share.
She never liked questions like these herself, but she had to ask. Taeyeon never really told Jessica why she wanted to start dating. Aside from occasionally telling Jessica that she was mesmerized by the blonde’s eyes, Taeyeon never really mentioned anything else that can make Jessica feel at ease. For the past seven years, Jessica has been living in fear that one day Taeyeon will get bored of her and leave her for someone better.
…
“hold my hand”
“W-why?”
“because I don’t want you to get lost”
“b-but I have my cane-st-“
Jessica stops her protest when she feels warm fingers lacing their way through her hand. She feels her cheeks and ears grow hotter and mentally curses at her inability to hide her excitement. Taeyeon takes note of her girlfriend’s little internal dilemma and chuckles, which causes Jessica to feel more ashamed.
“You won’t get lost. And even if you do, I will find my way to you”
…
“Taeyeon”
“Taeyeon where are you?”
Jessica clutches her stick closer to her chest and tries her best to swallow the lump inside her throat. She knew going to the public bathroom alone was a bad idea. If she hadn’t rejected Taeyeon’s offer to come along with her, she wouldn’t have trouble finding her way back. But Taeyeon isn’t with her now, and she feels completely alone.
“Here you are”
Jessica freezes as she feels warm hands wrap themselves possessively around her waist. She silently thanks God for letting Taeyeon find her because honestly speaking, Jessica is like a lost puppy without Taeyeon. And just like a flower without its gardener, Jessica’s life will most likely be meaningless without Taeyeon.
The realization of losing Taeyeon brings Jessica to tears, and she can’t do anything but just cry.
“Why are you crying?”
“I thought I lost you for a second”
“Babo, I’ll always find you”
...
Taeyeon tells Jessica that their relationship is similar to that of a gardener and her garden of flowers. In which Jessica is her garden and Taeyeon is the gardener. The flowers bloom and grow into beautiful roses while it is the gardener’s job to protect her flowers from withering. But flowers are meant to wither and die when they don’t get enough water, and Jessica is afraid that their relationship will die once Taeyeon gets tired of her.
“I will keep on watering. I will give you all the sun and water you need. I will give you all of that until you get tired and tell me to stop”
Jessica never asked Taeyeon to stop, and Taeyeon never stopped.
