HISTORY/PERSONALITY
History: Minjung grew up in Busan, in a house near the beach to a pair of very loving, albeit busy, parents. She was a precocious child and a happy one despite the frequent absence of her single father, but inevitably lonely. When she was eight they bought her a hybrid wolf puppy to help fill the void. He was instantly named Spot. The active puppy was more than enough to occupy a young girl, being like a child himself, and for a long while both were very happy. There was still something missing, however, and when Minjung turned ten, she realized who that was.
Seulgi. Seulgi was adopted into their family shortly before Minjung turned eleven, and Minjung took an immediate liking to the older girl. Things might have been uneasy at first, particularly on Seulgi’s end, but Minjung was very gently insistent on making her new sister a part of the family, going so far as to happily offer Seulgi her birthday when she found out that Seulgi didn’t have one and had never celebrated one properly. The two of them quickly became inseparable after that point, and they spent a goodly amount of their childhood racing with Spot or hiking in the woods and beaches near to their house.
Time came for the both of them to grow up though, and when Seulgi left for university, there was no question that Minjung would apply to the same school the following year. Summer of her sophomore year found her traveling abroad through, taking advantage of the school’s program to study in Hong Kong. Since then, every summer or so she’s come back to visit, and this move, this year, just happens to be permanent.
Minjung has an inherently sweet soul. Gently born and bred, it shows in how she holds herself and speaks to the people around her. The same applies to any living creatures she seems to approach as well, and it was for that reason that at age sixteen Minjung decided to become a vegetarian. Occasionally she can be encouraged to eat a little bit of chicken here, a little bit of fish there for the sake of her health, but she prefers not to - not only for personal beliefs but because she has a general aversion towards eating animal proteins. She doesn’t feel cravings for them.
Personality: Minjung is by no means purely innocent, but she’s made a series of life decisions that might make her seem as if she is. She doesn’t drink, she doesn’t do drugs, and the physical aspects of her romantic relationships seem to move at a glacier-like pace. Then, whether it be to people she’s met recently or to people she’s known for a large portion of her life, she prefers to give them the benefit of the doubt, likely to believe what she’s being told so long as no harm comes from it. Very seldom is she suspicious of anything, not seeing why anyone would bother to lie or feel the necessity to - there’s good in everyone, and that is the belief that Minjung forms her life around.
ABILITY
Minjung came into her abilities late in life, and her move to Hong Kong is more circumstantial than out of necessity. She’s always had a special relationship with plantlife, but it’s only within the past few months that it’s manifested into anything more.
She talks to plants. They understand to an extent, though not in any way that can be translated or communicated. It’s more thoughts and feelings that Minjung gets than anything else, but despite the species gap, she tends to fare better with them than with actual humans. Under her care, plants flourish, and with a little bit of a push, they grow faster than normal, under conditions they might not normally. She can’t make plants what they aren’t though - fibers don’t suddenly become stronger simply because they need to bind something, and a plant won’t grow if there isn’t sufficient light in the air, nutrients or water in the ground.
Though it’s yet to happen, the lifting of roots is likely the most dangerous her ability can get but even that takes time to happen. They don’t move quickly, and they don’t go far.
With the actual development of her abilities now though, Minjung’s finding herself having a difficult time faring in cities. Chills and bouts of weakness have been occurring more frequently, and she’s yet to find a fix for it.
