Double carthaginian hell, Rae thought to herself, tiredly. Where was Mary? Sunshine had a full tray, piled with slices of banana honey nut bread, Hell's Angelfood, Killer Zebras, fig bars, a couple of Caramel Cataclysms, half a pan of Bitter Chocolate Death sliced into single servings, and a whole lot of muffins waiting to be taken out front. It was too heavy for Sunshine to carry to the front counter display by herself, especially if she intended to keep the slash on her breast from splitting again.

You can't ooze in a public bakery, and she'd just changed the gauze on her last break. It was a damn nuisance, only hurting when she moved more than it wanted to allow, splitting the scab and causing it to bleed anew each time. It seemed to happen all too often, with her being so tired all the time. If the nightmares would let her actually rest at night, then perhaps she wouldn't be so clumsy during the day, and then maybe the thrice-damned thing would get a chance to heal.

And maybe Mr. Cagney will have no complaints about his order, today, if we're talking miracles.

Mary must have been out talking to customers. An Kyoko's probably out there pretending not to flirt with Theo.

Okay. So. Sunshine eyed the tray. She thought that if she angled it against her shoulder on the uninjured side, steadying it with her left hand, she could probably make it to the front counter without spilling anything.

Maybe.

If she were lucky and moved fast.

The tray put a little bit of uncomfortable pressure on the gauzed cut, but didn't seem to pull too much. By the time she had worked that out, though, the strain put on her arms by the tray was already making itself known, telling her to hurry it up if she wanted to make it to the front counter. Rae turned quickly to open the bakery door with her hip, grimacing as she manuevered the heavy tray through the door and into the coffeehou... a bar?
