Korok couldn't take it any longer; he had to steal another glimpse of the little Arderian he'd been traveling with. As he stood from his seat on a large boulder, he stopped himself. This behavior was very unbecoming of a proud Kybarite warrior. Nothing fascinated him anymore. He had achieved a power level that most of his kin would blush at. An unusually damp breeze swept through the moonlit mountain range, beckoning him towards the cave in which the girl slept.

"Didn't I leave my Moga ring in there?" He asked aloud and stepped along the ground lightly. None of his comrades should ever know of his latent interest with the girl. He'd never live down all of the taunts and threats. His senses sharpened as he carefully entered the cavern and crept around the fallen rocks.

His reward awaited him beside the roaring camp fire. Serafi, the Arderian who snagged his attention from the moment she smashed into him at the battle in Naroom, was safely nestled in a pile of furs in a deep slumber. Curled up in a little ball and clutching at the furs, she murmured softly and wiggled around to find a comfortable position.

Korok laughed at his own stupidity.

There was something peculiar about the odd alliance he and Serafi had forged. She trusted him completely but still desired to be in charge of her own personal safety. After her apprenticeship with Shimmer ended abruptly, she'd wandered the Moonlands alone trying to hone her skills.

Korok, on the other hand, excelled without ever even trying. He was a much greater warrior than Serafi, which is why he constantly looked out for her during combat. She'd always end up using some ridiculously powerful spell and it would end up backfiring on her.

Perhaps that was it. Korok admired his friend's capacity to learn and adapt quickly. This was offset by her quirky nature and upbeat personality, but he had come to secretly adore it. She was so far from the ideal magi of Arderial. They were wise and perfectly calm in all situations.

Her imperfections intrigued him to the point of enchantment, so he had spent the last month or so just watching her sleep. His huge hands reached down and pulled the furs away from her peachy face.

She was smiling.
