Watching Serafi race around the war party and chatter with anyone who would let her was unnerving. Her stern companion slowly stomped along the mountain pass with his eyes fixed upon her. Ever since that night in the cavern, she had changed slightly. Her energy level skyrocketed and she was much more sociable.
Truthfully, he had experienced transformation himself; in the way he saw her, that is. Serafi’s personality no longer annoyed him because he knew what to expect. She was a refreshing presence among the war ravaged group. Running about and encouraging who she could, Korok even started to admire her.
“Korok!” She called suddenly.
Blood drummed in the young magi’s ears as he turned his head to respond, “What?”
Serafi stared at him from the other side of the crowd, a smile illuminating her charming features. Waving her hand in the air she shouted, “Just making sure you were paying attention!”
Korok grumbled and quickly turned back to the long road that stretched out ahead of him. Struggling to still his ragged breath, he hurried towards the front of the group. The sensation rooted deep within his stomach burned.
Of all magi, he had to fall for her.

Summary: Kybar wasn't so bad, Serafi thought, so long as you're here.
Word Count: 200
Yark’s Eyrie, Kybar’s ancestral fortress and citadel, shone brilliantly in the rapidly approaching dawn. It was a welcome sight to the weary eyes of the war party. The city, seemingly untouched by Time itself, meant rest for the exhausted pilgrims.
“Is that Yark’s Eyrie?” Serafi asked aloud as they started to cross the great bridge that linked the city to the cliff just beyond. She couldn’t tear her eyes away from its magnificence. Nostalgically, it reminded her of Arderial; a place where all of her friends and relatives were.
Korok stopped and waved his hand around in front of her face, trying to snap her back into the present. His forehead was creased and a worried frown was sculpted into his stony face as she came to. “Homesick?”
Serafi sighed, “A little, I guess.”
Korok awkwardly clapped a hand onto her shoulder and tried to smile. As scary as his face was, Serafi felt comforted by his friendly gesture, and shocked when he grabbed her by the arm to lead her towards the bridge. His grip wasn’t rough anymore; he had learned to be gentle with her.
Serafi glanced upwards and quietly thanked the Ancients for such a beautiful morning.
