durham county
So Durham County is really amazing, I finished watching the first season yesterday.
My thoughts:
It’s beautiful, filmed in a muted grey; looks like it would be perfect for vidding.
It is dark; the violence in the first episode is some of the most disturbing I’ve ever seen, and that look Mike and Audrey exchange over Sadie’s head in the last part of the final episode? Ouch.
Characters of messed up awesome! Sadie, Ray Jr and Mike in particular.
This show sure loves its moral greyness.
I kind of find Mike Sweeney attractive, this is confusing to me.
I already wrote about this over at yvi’s dw in her entry about atheist characters but I loved this conversation between Mike and his youngest daughter Maddie:
“You know what I think, I think when people die they’re buried and they go back in the earth”
“That’s all?”
“That’s all, that’s not so bad.”
She then continues to tell him that she has buried Uncle Caleb in the flower-pots. Awww.
I wish LJ had a search function because I would love to read peoples episode reactions and meta for this show.
