Sorry to bug, but saw that you posted on the Puerto Vallarta community. Anyway, I'm going to Vallarta for the 2nd time (1st x was in 2003), but this time I am going w/o my guides/ride (aunt/uncle/cousins) and w/ my mom (who has never been there).
I've never been on the local buses or taxis and I hear the ATM bus is no longer allowed to stop in Vallarta other than at their terminal. How do I get to Walmart, Gigante, Mexicana from the hotel zone? I think Gigante might be two blocks from the Holiday Inn. Not too sure though.
I know the beaches in the zona hotelera (I'll be staying at the Villa Premiere and at the Holiday Inn) are pretty bad (rocky)... I remember going to some nice ones but I think they were in Nayarit (probably in Nuevo Vallarta?). What places would you recommend and how can I get there via bus?
Any info/insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Oh let's see...I can't remember! I'm not going to be of much help to you, I'm afraid. The last time we were there the buses were running to Wal-Mart and we took them all over the place. If that is not the case anymore then I have no clue! I'm not sure where Gigante is in relation to the hotel zone, but I know we walked there from our hotel (the Qualton...which I don't recommend by the way).
The beach in front of the Qualton and the neighboring hotels was really quite nice. There were some rocky jut-outs, but lots of sandy beach around it. That's actually where DH proposed to me. On the jut-outs people are getting massages and it looked wonderful; wish I would have done that. Anyways, I would love to go back, just not to the Qualton. Maybe a nicer place next time! Although I do love the all-inclusive deal! :-)
