To be a conformist and write about how rad Warped was, like everyone else is not something i wanna do.
but i'll do it anyway.
me and carly stayed at my cousin, Pams, house in Vancouver. Her and her fiance Todd have 4 chinchillas. 2 Parent(who just so happen to be incest) and 2 Baby chinchillas. They were cute.
Both days we were in Vancouver we ended up waking up at 8. harsh. The bus ride over town was alright. Carly didnt know transit at all, so this was a new thing. We got off at Broadway station and low and behold we see Jerome, Juanita and Max. for some reason i always see Jerome in Vancouver, unplanned.
The busride to UBC was a fun, packed, hot ride. We eventually arrived and saw how huge the lineup was. i said 'fuck it' and just went up to the very front where i saw Jim. Good guy, still on his way to becoming LOGAN.
Before any of the bands started up, rumour was floating around that Matt Skiba was at the merch tent. I went over, and saw the tall trio frontman. I got a picture with him, and i hope it turns out. He was a nice guy, and introduced himself when i had obviously know who he was. I love em.
Early November played first and had amazing stage presence. But i agree with Jim's statement of how they are JimmyEatWorld try hards. Taking Back Sunday was fantastic, minus the fat bitch int he camo shirt who kept puncuing Varly, and the dick who tried to take my hat. They played THE UNION, so i was happy. Alkaline Trio played. My 2nd time seeing them. Yet again blown away. They played WEVE HAD ENOUGH, 100 STORIES, WARBRAIN, MAYBE ILL CATCH FIRE, PRIVATE EYE, IF WE NEVER GO INSIDE, MY FRIEND PETER and THIS COULD BE LOVE(with a little adlibbing of some of Billy Idol's 'white wedding'). I loved it. the front ruled. yet again soem asshole kept trying to take my hat.
I took a break to get some water with Carly. 3.50 a bottle. Lame. Lucky we had water stations. I bought some merch. A 'From First To Last' shirt(a new band i love, with a funny merch guy who told me i had 'nice muscle definition') as well as a Trio hat that fits amazingly well. Went to the main field and caught some of The Bouncing Souls as well as The Vandals.
Saw a bit of Senses Fail's set. They are good. Than went over to watch From First To Last who had a butt-ugly 16 year old singer. Amazing voice, terrible to look at. One of their guitarists had a tattoo in his sleeve that read 'Shit-Fuck'. Cool!
Hung out for a while and heard a bit of Story Of The Year's set as well as some of New Found Glory.
Than Thursday began and i was fucking stoked. The opened up with FOR THE WORKFORCE, DROWNING and went into PARIS IN FLAMES. Geoff was funny;
-"So there's about 10,000 kids here at the Vancouver Warped Tour...so that's what? 7,000 American?"
-"Yesterday i saw a movie, Fahrenheit 9/11 and i was ina theatre with a bunch of Canadians. I could tell they were all thinking 'wow, that country is fucked up' while im in the back thinking 'man, my country is fucked up'"
They finished their set with DIVISION STREET. they were one of my favorite acts of the day. Me and Carly left for the bus to beat the rush and grabbed some pizza on the way home. our first bite of food since 8 in the morning(it was around 8:45 by this time).
Went to sleep(but not before having some shots of Yagger courtesy of Todd) and awoke the next morning on Carlys Birthday. We went across town so she could get a tattoo. Nice tattoo place. One of the dudes would not be quiet about his 'girl-troubles'.
We went to Granville to shop. I waited patiently as Carly went into stores and stuff. She bought a nice belt buckel and belt, along with a skirt and some pants.
Near Robson, we took some pictures. Just some neat ones. This one being my fav:
after wards we went to ValuVillage where i stole a shirt. im a rebel. fuck me.
had some mis-communication with a ride, so we bussed it back home and rushed to the ferry. Met with Andie and got a ride back to home.
needless to say, im fucking tired and i love Converge.
