I'm in a Hilton RIGHT NOW and they have baaaad coffee and I think that they just gave me food poisoning with the staff dinner.
And security keeps giving me a hard time because I've been in the same ballroom for 14 hours straight and I'm wearing black ('cos I have to) and they think that I'm gonna steal MY OWN computer equipment because a girl couldn't POSSIBLY be part of the staging crew, no sir, so go talk to the concierge and get permission to be here because we gotta guard this room, misssy!
I'm not even kidding. Homicide might happen here soon...
The security people at the Grant were kind of awesome. And we always treated you guys (i.e. the lifeblood of the convention proceeding) as king, because when something went wrong, the front desk still got yelled at even if we had nothing to do with it. My goal for any interaction with presentation staff is to see that your every need is met and that you are, at the very least, slightly less stressed out or more comforted after we talk.
I'm sorry. Hiltons, universally, suck. It's a poorly kept secret in the hospitality industry. :( Sorry you have to be there!
