067. Sunrise, Yesung/Sungmin
I was woken up to the sound of soft shuffling coming from somewhere on the far side of my room. It was evident that the person making the noise was trying not to wake me - at least not yet - but was failing miserably. I buried my head deep under my covers, trying to block out the sound, but by this stage it was the only thing I could hear. I pushed the covers from my face in annoyance only to find myself face to face with a bright and fresh Sungmin.
He laughed as I yelped in surprise and kissed me on top of my nose. “Yesungie, do you know what time it is?” My room was still dark so I assumed that it couldn’t be past 4.30 in the morning. I yawned in reply, “Way too early, Minah~ I want to sleep!” He grabbed something from my beside table as I groggily sat up and soon found myself with a cup of fresh, hot coffee in my hands. I could only smile with pleasure. Sungmin really knew how to push my buttons. He sat patiently on my bed waiting for me to finish my coffee. I usually liked to take long, slow sips but I could tell that he was in a bit of an impatient mood and didn’t want to keep him waiting. Anyone else, and they would’ve been sitting there for hours. But Sungmin had a special effect on me; I was willing to do anything for him.
“C’mon, get dressed!” He threw some clothes at me. “I want to be out of here in 10 minutes.” He must’ve really wanted this if he was ordering me around. He knew that I usually liked to be the one in control. I wasn’t going to object however; I was curious to see what Sungmin woke me up so early for. I went over to the bathroom, quickly washed and dressed myself. I met him outside the door in just under 10 minutes.
He placed his arm around my waist as if silently telling me that I wasn’t allowed to leave whenever I wanted to. I didn’t mind this action - I liked being close to him and I put my arm around his shoulder to let him know how I felt. I felt a slight shiver from him as I made contact.
We walked in silence. I knew better than to ask where we were going as I would’ve been hit with so many “You’ll see when we get there!” and “Haha I won’t tell you!” sentences that I would’ve gone insane. I opted to just bask in his presence. He mustn’t have been in the mood to talk either as he didn’t try to initiate a conversation like his usually did. Or maybe it was just because it was early.
When we finally stopped walking, we had reached the top of our favourite hill, overlooking the local park. It was littered with wildflowers and was usually brimming full of butterflies which was why we loved it so much. We had also shared our first kiss there.
He let go of me and sat down, motioning for me to do the same. “Any time now, Sungie… and you’ll see why I brought you here.” He rested his head against my shoulder and I felt him breathe in deeply. The sky was beginning to get lighter as the first rays of sun hit the earth. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it, Yesungie?” The warm reds, oranges and yellows all danced across the horizon to an unheard melody, slowly making their way up higher and higher into the sky. The feeling I got from watching it made me dizzy with satisfaction. It was worth it to wake up this early to see such a beautiful thing. Sungmin looked at me with happy eyes. “This is why I brought you here, Yesungah. To be able to get up this early to see something so wonderful and amazing… and the beauty of the sunrise and the feeling I get from looking at it makes me realise how much I really love you.” He smiled that heart-warming smile of his and closed his eyes allowing the sun to warm his face. I looked at my love tenderly and nuzzled my face against his hair. “I love you too, Sungmin.”
