012. Chains, Heechul/Kangin

“Hey, yo yo!” is almost always what I hear first from him in the morning. “Wassup uri Kanginnie?”
*note: uri = we, our

His English accent is so bad.

Mine is so much better.

Don’t believe me? I’ll prove it!

“Yeah! I number one Korea good English speaking Kangin!”

I’m fantastic, right?

Ah… but that Heechul… sometimes I think that he actually would prefer to be a black person instead of a Korean!

I’m not being racist. Calm down. Don’t get me wrong! Just hear me out.

It’s just the way he acts when he’s off-camera.

Usually you see the girly Heechul, right? Or the suave model with the most ridiculous looks? Or even as the witty comedian with his silly imitations?

He’s not like that when the camera’s not on him.

Our Heechul… he likes to wear loose pants. You know, like those black American gangster rappers. Half the time his pants are around his knees - not a pretty sight!

He absolutely adores wearing layers upon layers of loose shirts (all different sizes of course) and a backwards baseball cap.

I don’t know if you remember, but he used to want dreadlocks. Yeah, you guessed it, it’s because he saw a black person in the English village with that hairstyle (and then later on when we went back there for Super Junior Full House, he went through a hoodie phase because of that dark skinned foreigner we interacted with. So impressionable!).

His most prized accessories are his… “bling.”

He has dozens of chains for all different occasions.

Trust me, if you saw Heechul-hyung walking down the street in his normal attire, you wouldn’t even recognise him!

I remember one day he decided that he wanted to enter in a local rap competition. He thought he’d be a shoe-in for sure because as you should know, Heechul does rap in some of Super Junior’s songs.

I remember laughing at him because the afore mentioned rap competition was in English only. What an English rap competition was doing in our part of town, I’ll never know.

At first he was really upset because no one seemed to support him, and everyone would only laugh at him… but me being Kangin the Great! I decided to help him out, because let’s face it, he’d need all the help he could get. And who better to help him than the English speaking genius me?

We had spent about a week practicing. At this stage he decided that we had to make it a team effort because he thought that most rap teams these days had two people.

I think that he was just too scared to do it by himself!

Finally our day of glory arrived.

Our attire… was ridiculous!

I actually had to hold onto my pants because I didn’t want to look like Heechul did.

I do have to admit, I really liked the “bling“!

Our rap went really well.

But we didn’t get a prize. Not even an honoured mention!

It’s not our fault that the other competitors were actually from an international school in the area and all had an English speaking background.

We did well though!

“One, two, three, four!

Everybody hit the floor!

Five, six, seven, eight!

Heechul Kangin we’re great!

Yeah!!!

Hand in the air!

Hand in the air!

YO YO YO

Homie in house yo!

You my sexy mama homie!

YO TOUCH MAN!

You are so gorgeous!

I’m angry!!!

Bring it on!!!

Nice weather!

YEAH!!!”

Being on Super Junior Full House really did improve our English, don’t you think?
