here it comes. the air is suddenly cold in the mornings, slightly damp. i can't stay warm enough at night, and pile on the bedding. a few leaves drift across the patio, a few more each day, though when i look up at the glorious canopy of cottonwood boughs, they are all dark green and shining in the low sunlight ( Read more... )

The front wall is really looking awesome, love the huge mailbox! Its will really add character to the property when its done. I really wish I would have found the energy to make it over to the harvest festival last week you guys make progress by leaps and bounds and its been awhile since I've been over to see it. I kept thinking I'll get up here in a few more minutes...

thank you! our progress this year has been more intermittent, but things are still moving, for sure.

the UPS guy got all excited about the package drop. "is that for us? I want to try it!"

we missed you guys! and, taking care of yourself comes first; i know how it is to be that tired. at the beginning of the harvest fest, all i wanted to do was lay down in the shade with a book and a beer and not see anybody for a few days. that wasn't possible, and the whole thing went well, but it still sounds really nice. :)

see you next week in the woods?

I'll be day tripping next weekend but I'll probably be there more often than not. Too many animals at home these days not to have someone there to see to them in the mornings and evenings. So yes, I'll see you in the woods, intermittently.

Which is the kind of progress we've made this year too, but as long as we're all moving forward I guess that's what really matters. Maybe next year we will really kick it in the ass. Huh.

Kinda cool that the UPS guy is into his job enough to be excited about your new box. You should order something oversized just for him.

Took Yiska down to the river yesterday. The sunflowers are in full bloom, most towered over me even horseback. Spent several minutes just standing there in a world made of sunflowers under a cool overcast sky. It was so very Autumn. Then Yiska tried to eat the flowers and a garter snake slithered under us and the spell was broken. Fall seems to have taken a pretty good hold though, so much for summer I'm thinking.

Thank you for posting! I am sorry I did not make the festival. I get major sociial anxiety on occasion and I suppose it is my time.
