I loved those books when I was little, but what kind of game play would you employ? It could be a bit Prince of Persia, I suppose, with the puzzles, and climbing the bell tower etc. What fun!

Yeah, something like that would be nearly perfect! I think it would have to employ a lot of the riddles and puzzles, but also have a good battle system. Something along the lines of Prince of Persia, or I think a bit of a system like Final fantasy with party battles. I'd love to see different species in my group with specific attacks exclusive to the species. And also a good map to explore along with the storyline. I think I should re-vamp my post. XD

I was part of a group that, for a while, was trying to put together a fan Redwall game. It eventually fell apart due to the participants getting busy with school, and the fact that BJ just really wasn't into the idea.

I still think the Redwall series would make for fantastic games - perhaps of the roleplaying variety, and the lighter the touch of combat, the better. You couldn't go without, of course, but just to keep it from becoming the focus. Maybe lots of platforming and puzzles as you play out whatever quest the game has in store for you. And yes, species abilities. Perhaps a given area has three valid paths through it, but maybe one only works if you can climb trees, and another only works if you can swim.
