Summary: Donghae sees Eunhyuk at school for the first time when they have to do a presentation in biology together. He has never seen him before even though they have been in the same class for two years. And suddenly his whole life is one big mess that he needs to clean up.

<-- previous--

Donghae didn't go to school the next day. His mom called his homeroom teacher and told him that Donghae wouldn't be coming to school that day, because of personal reasons. Donghae was glad his teacher didn't start asking any more questions. It wasn't his business anyway.

He was laying on his bed, staring at the ceiling. His phone had ringed many times that morning but he hadn't bothered to answer. He knew it was either Eunhyuk or Leeteuk, asking where he was and if he was alright. He really didn't want to tell either of them that he got beaten up by Soo man right in front of his own mother. Leeteuk would skip his lessons and storm into the room and he wouldn't leave before Heechul skipped his lessons too and came to drag the elder out of the house. Eunhyuk would probably start blaming himself for telling Donghae what happened to him and think that his attackers had now attacked Donghae, no matter how he tried to explain the situation.

Donghae blew out the air he had unconsciously held in. He didn't want Eunhyuk to start blaming himself for what happened to him. For some unknown reason Donghae believed Soo man when he had said he hadn't hired those guys to beat Eunhyuk up.

"Donghae, come and eat something. My lunch break is almost over and I have to get back to work." Donghae's mom said from behind the locked door. Donghae let out a small groan but it was enough for her and soon he heard the front door closing.

He slowly sat up on the bed, wincing at the pain that shot through his hand as he leaned a bit too much weight on it. His stomach was growling but he tried his best ignoring it as he looked at himself in the mirror that Hara had put on the wall. He had a bruise on his temple and his back hurt like hell.

Donghae dragged himself out of the room. The more steps he took the more his back hurt and he was about to collapse on the floor as he finally reached the kitchen, which seemed to be miles away from his room. He sat on the chair, leaning on the table and tried to collect himself back together as the pain in his back started to calm down a bit.

His mom had left the food on the stove so it'd stay warm for Donghae. He was glad she was so thoughtful. She had always been.

~~~
"Donghae-ah! Did you leave your shoes outside?" Donghae was sitting on the floor in his room. He had just come from playing with Siwon and he still had his beanie and scarf on. He lifted his head up quickly as he heard his father's steps getting closer to his room. "You mother has told you to leave your dirty shoes on the porch after you come home from playing." His father said.
The only thing the 6 year-old-boy could say was simple "Oops…" as his father appeared to the doorway, his hands crossed over his arm and looking a bit angry.
"Go put them on the porch and get something to clean up that mess on the floor."
The little boy got up from the floor, looking like a puppy that knew he had done something wrong, and walked past his father. He quickly went downstairs and almost ran to the vestibule. He was just about to open the door and throw his dirty shoes out when the door opened and he almost threw the shoes on his mother.
She was surprised to see the little Donghae standing there, looking terrified, holding his shoes and mouth slightly open.
"Hi sweety. What are you doing?" She asked with a smile. Donghae closed his mouth that he realized was open and lowered his gaze to look at his toes only to see that his white socks were dirty brown and wet.
"I forgot to leave my shoes out…" He muttered and looked up while showing his dirty shoes to his mom.
"Oh." She said, surprised. "Put them outside and go get a wet towel. We'll clean the floor together." She said, smiling warmly. Seeing Donghae holding back his tears was melting her heart even though she was a bit angry because of the dirt on the floor. But how could she be angry after seeing her son being so cute?
A bright smile appeared on Donghae's lips, reaching all the way to his eyes as he jumped a little, threw the shoes out on the porch and ran to the toilet to get the towel.
~~~

Donghae got up from the chair and walked to the stove. He looked inside the pot but then slowly closed it. He didn't want to eat despite being hungry.

He walked back to his room and gently laid himself on the soft mattress. He let out a sigh as the softness seemed to sooth the pain in his back and it started to subside slowly. There was a painkiller on the night table, right next to his phone, but he refused to take it and hoped the pain would just go away by laying there.

He didn't know when he had fallen asleep but he definitely knew when he woke up as his phone rang for the millionth time that day. He reached his hand out and picked the phone up, hitting the answer button without even thinking who was calling.

"Where the hell are you!? Because of you Jungsoo is going crazy and Eunhyuk has been calling him nonstop!" Heechul screamed through the phone and Donghae had to hold the phone away from his ear if he liked to have his hearing after the phone call.

"Uuuh… Chullie, I'd appreciate to keep my hearing." Donghae groaned after Heechul had calmed down.

"Okay, fine. But where are you seriously? And why haven't you answered to the phone? You know Teukie has tried to call you more than he ever calls me."

Donghae almost smiled at the last comment. "Tell him I'm OK. I think I'm coming to school tomorrow. I just couldn't make it today." Donghae said. Heechul snorted before he agreed to do that. They were about to end the call when Donghae heard Leeteuk's voice saying something to Heechul.

"Oh, Teukie wants to talk to you about something. Hang on, I'll give him the phone." There was a rustle as Heechul's phone changed from his hand to Leeteuk's before Donghae could tell him not to. He really didn't want to explain everything to Leeteuk right now.

"Donghae-ah, there's something I want to ask you." Leeteuk said, getting straight to the point.

"I'm not gonna tell you the reason why I'm not there." Donghae said abruptly.

"I know, and I wasn't gonna ask that. But Hyukkie came to school today." There was a pause and Donghae's breath hitched. "He looks horrible even though he was wearing sunglasses to cover his face. He was looking for you and he was worried as hell. I've never seen him like that." Leeteuk said. "Call him right after this. I don't know where he went after I told him you aren't here."

Donghae didn't know what to say. He should have known better than to ignore his phone all day. He should have gone to Eunhyuk's home right after school yesterday and he should have at least sent him a text message that he'd spend the night at home.

"Did you hear what I said?" Leeteuk demanded.

"Yeah, I got it. I'll call him right away." Donghae said quietly.

"Good. I gotta go now. I'm gonna sent Siwon to give you your homework since you two have almost the same lessons…" Leeteuk said and hang up the phone.

Donghae stared at the dead phone in his hand. He knew he had to call Eunhyuk but how would he explain all this? He didn't have much time to think about it as the doorbell rang and scared to hell out of him. It rang again and again and then someone was knocking, almost hitting, the door.

Without even thinking who it could be, Donghae got up from his bed and made his way to the front door. He opened it only to see Eunhyuk standing in front of him. He was wearing the dark sunglasses he had worn before. The bruises on his chin were turning yellowish already and were healing at an incredible speed.

"Oh…! Hyukkie!" Donghae exclaimed. The other just stood there, probably staring at him behind the dark sunglasses.

"What-" Eunhyuk said, or tried to say. His voice seemed to be lost for some reason and he had to clear his throat. "What happened to you?" He managed to say with a weak voice.

Donghae sighed and lowered his head. "Come inside, Hyukkie." He said and stepped aside, allowing Eunhyuk to step inside. Eunhyuk took his shoes off and walked to the living room where Donghae had dropped himself on the couch so that his head was hanging from the back rest and his face was buried in his hands. Eunhyuk walked up to him and sat next to the younger without saying a word.

After a while, that seemed to take forever, Donghae lifted his head up and looked at Eunhyuk with a serious expression on his face.

"I don't know how to say this." He started. "You remember Soo man, right?" Donghae asked. He didn't even know himself where this was going but he had to start somewhere.

Eunhyuk nodded and asked. "What about him?"

"He picked me up after school saying that my mom was sick and she wanted me to come home. I've always taken care of her when she has been sick so I didn't even think twice before I got into his car." Donghae explained. "I was getting really worried when he drove clearly over the speed limits. When we got here, however, I couldn't find my mom anywhere. That was when he trapped me in my room and told me she was just fine. He tricked me."

Donghae paused for a moment, trying to remember yesterday's events. "He hit me. I don't remember how many times but the final hit happened when my mom was standing in the doorway. He hit me in front of her." Donghae gritted his teeth at the final sentence. He was so damn angry at Soo man! He didn't really care about being beaten up by him but the fact that the old man beat him up in front of his mother's eyes made his anger boil.

Eunhyuk was quiet until Donghae finished. He had told his story quite shortly but it was enough. He didn't really want to know everything that happened to Donghae.

"I'm sorry." Was all Eunhyuk could say. And he really was sorry. He knew how it felt being beaten up.

"No need to." Donghae said and smiled genuinely. "He's not here anymore. I haven't seen Hara around either…" Donghae said before he could control his tongue.

Eunhyuk took off his sunglasses and looked Donghae. He looked completely surprised. "Why's that?"

Donghae wanted to slam his head into the nearest wall as hard as he could. Why do I have such a big mouth? Why do you always have to blurt something out, Lee Donghae?!

"I guess I have something else to tell you…" He murmured and rubbed his face. Eunhyuk didn't say anything. He kept his eyes on Donghae and the slightly suspicious look stayed on his face as he waited. "About Hara…" Donghae said, now looking directly into Eunhyuk's eyes. "She isn't my cousin. In fact, we aren't relatives at all."

"I don't like where this is going, Donghae." Eunhyuk said bluntly.

"Let me finish." Donghae told him. It came out much more harshly than he had intended to but at least it made Eunhyuk shut his mouth, though he looked a bit hurt. "When Soo man moved here she moved too. Soo man and my mom planned that I'd marry her after we finish high school." Donghae paused to take a closer look at Eunhyuk and how he reacted.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Eunhyuk asked. "Why didn't you tell me what's going on?"

"I-I didn't want to hurt you. I…" Donghae blurted out. Eunhyuk was on the edge of crying and Donghae was absolutely clueless about what to do. He tried to swallow but his mouth was as dry as Sahara. "You're too innocent. You wouldn't have been with me if you knew I was supposed to marry someone. I didn't want you to leave me before anything even happened."

That confession was not planned. Donghae surprised even himself as he finished speaking and realized what he had just let to escape from his lips. A tear fell on Eunhyuk's cheek. Donghae really wanted to wipe it away like he had done before but this time it was different. He was the cause of the tear. He couldn't just wipe it away.

"Thank you." Eunhyuk whispered. If Donghae was surprised because of his own confession, this was totally something he hadn't expected. He shot his gaze up that he had lowered and the only things he saw were the tears that were now flowing freely down on Eunhyuk's cheeks and the smile that was on his lips.

"What?" Was all Donghae could say. He was utterly confused and trying to understand what was going on in Eunhyuk's mind.

"Thank you, for being honest with me." Eunhyuk said, this time a bit louder and clearer. His smile only got wider as he continued. "Even though I'm hurt because you didn't tell me in the first place, I'm thankful. And I'm happy you didn't do that."

Donghae didn't know what to say. He was about to start crying too as he watched Eunhyuk's face with mixed feelings and thoughts as the words tattooed into his memories. Eunhyuk wiped away the tears and at that moment Donghae leaned closer and pressed their lips together.

The kiss didn't last long but it was all they needed at the moment, just a sweet kiss full of care. Donghae could taste the salty wetness on Eunhyuk's lips and smiled a little when Eunhyuk parted his lips a little, allowing Donghae's tongue to sneak between them where his tongue came to welcome it.

"Donghae-ah! Are you home?" Yelled bright girl voice from the entryway. Donghae cursed in the back of his mind as he recognized it immediately. Eunhyuk tried to pull away but Donghae didn't want it to end yet and leaned closer again.

"Don't…" Donghae whispered against Eunhyuk's lips. "Don't care about her." When Eunhyuk stopped trying to get away and gave Donghae an encouraging movement of lips Donghae kissed him again.

When Hara walked into the living room she found no one. Or at least until she heard a soft moan from the couch and rounded it to see who had made that sound and why. She regretted it deeply as her anger exploded. Donghae was pressing the other boy's, Eunhyuk's, body down on the couch with his own and their lips were locked.

"If I were you two, I'd get a fucking room!" She said, totally pissed off.

Donghae pulled back from the kiss to look at Eunhyuk. The boy under him opened his eyes and gave him a bit unsure look but Donghae only smirked a little and gave him a small peck on his lips before he sat up and looked at Hara. Her hair was tied up into a tight pony tail and she was wearing her school uniform a bit more relaxed way than what she should have. She had unbuttoned the first buttons of her button-up shirt and her skirt was couple of inches too short for being appropriate.

"Funny you said that." He said sarcastically, pissing Hara off even more if that was possible. "What are you doing here anyway?" Donghae asked, this time serious.

"I happen to live here now, remember?" She spat.

"And that's why we don't have that fucking room!" Donghae yelled back at her. He was getting slightly annoyed. Okay, maybe a bit more than slightly.

"There's a door that you can close to have some privacy!" Hara screamed and pointed towards Donghae's room. Donghae had now fully sat up, his fist were tight and his teeth were gritted together as he straddled Eunhyuk's hips.

"Donghae..?" Eunhyuk said quietly, getting Donghae's attention back to himself right away. "I think I should get going."

"For the first time I agree with him." Hara said under her breathe.

"Shut the fuck up, will you?!" Donghae yelled at her before he turned his face back to Eunhyuk. His expression softened immediately as he saw Eunhyuk, still a bit flushed after the kiss. "I'm going to school tomorrow. Are you still gonna stay at home?" He asked with his breath taking smile.

"I'm still gonna stay at home." Eunhyuk said. Hara huffed before she left the room and went to kitchen. Donghae's smile widened a little and he leaned down to capture Eunhyuk's lips once more before he got up of him. He walked Eunhyuk to the door and opened it for him. The gray Mercedes was parked on the side of the road in front of their house.

"I thought we're not allowed to drive yet." Donghae said playfully as Eunhyuk took his car keys from his pocket.

"We aren't. But I wanted to take the risk." He said and then grinned playfully. "I can always afford to pay some extra cash to the cops if they stop me."

~~~
Donghae fixed his hair in front of the mirror in the bathroom. He had already showered, dressed and was now desperately trying to hide his bruises. He tried to get his hair over his eyebrow to cover the cut but failed every time he tried, and he had done it over and over for about half an hour now and had almost emptied Hara's hair spray that was on the shelf.
With a heavy sigh he gave up and put the hair spray bottle back where he had taken it. He then placed his hands on the sink, leaning on them heavily as he watched himself from the mirror. He knew he'd have trouble hiding his bruises and the cut on his face but he had hoped that it'd be easier with some make up - that he had also stolen from Hara. Unfortunately it didn't hide the bruises like he had hoped, in fact they didn't hide them at all.
"Yah! Donghae! GET OUT ALREADY!" Hara yelled at him from behind the door. Donghae sighed once again and gave one last look at himself through the mirror before he grabbed his jacket from the closed toilet seat and walked to the door. He opened it and found Hara standing at the door, her arms crossed and her expression showed how close she was to explode.
"That took you long!" She snapped before she stormed pass Donghae.
"My face is all fucked up, if you didn't happen to notice!" Donghae yelled back at her as she slammed the door shut right after herself. "And that's all because of your uncle!"
He was tired and now even more annoyed as he rubbed his temple while trying to take couple of deep breathes before he made his way to the kitchen. His mom had left early for work and had left a note for them, telling them that there was something to eat in the fridge. Donghae took the note from the table and crushed it in his fist before he threw it into the trash.
He ate in silence, didn't pay any attention to Hara, who came from the bathroom. When he finished he went back to his, their, room to get his school bag. He was just about to go and put his shoes on and leave when Hara came into the room and blocked his way by standing by the doorway.
"Look, I'm sorry for what he did." She said. Donghae, who had turned to check he had everything he needed with him, turned his head to look at her in disbelief. "I don't want this to carry on like this, Donghae-ah. I know I can't do anything about the bruises but…" She let her voice fade as she walked over to the night table next to the bed, opened the first drawer and took out a pair of sunglasses.
"I bought these for you yesterday." She said as she offered the sunglasses for Donghae. After a moment of glaring at her, Donghae took the glasses from her tiny hand and walked to the mirror. He stood there for a while that seemed to take forever before he lifted the sunglasses up and put them on. They looked good on him, he had to admit, but they didn't cover his whole face. The bruises on his chin were still clearly seen but the cut on his brow was hidden and thanks to his hair, most of the bruises on his forehead were also hidden.
"Thanks." He said shortly as he looked away from the mirror and started to walk towards the door.
"I'm happy you like them." She said quietly as she followed him.
~~~

"Yah, Donghae!" Donghae sighed and slammed the door of his locker shut. He took a deep breath before he turned around to face Heechul, who had Leeteuk standing beside him. They both looked worried as they saw Donghae wearing sunglasses and the bruise on his chin.

"What happened to you?!" Leeteuk gasped. "First Hyukkie and now you!"

"Hyung, volume down!" Donghae hissed through gritted teeth and lowered his head so that his hair fell even more over his forehead and partly on the sunglasses. "I'll tell you later…" He muttered. I

It didn't satisfy Heechul though. "Spit it out. I suffered all day because of Teukie 'coz he was so frigging worried because of Hyukkie and I do not want to have another day like that because of you!"

"Chul-" Leeteuk tried to calm his boyfriend down but was cut off by Donghae who abruptly lifted his head up and practically ripped the sunglasses from his face.

"This," he said and pointed at his face with the hand that had a band on it. "is what happened!" Donghae growled. His voice was a bit too loud, he was pissed off because of the whole thing, and the students that were close to them turned to look at what was going on. Gasps were heard and Leeteuk immediately turned to give the students death glares, telling them to fuck off.

Heechul kept on looking at Donghae. His expression was indescribable but it turned out to be full of worry as Donghae put his glasses back on.

"That looks bad." He said with low voice. Leeteuk turned back to them as the students had walked away from the scene.

"I know. But hyungs, please don't make any other scenes today." Donghae said. "I really don't want to answer all the questions in public. I promise I'll tell you later…"

"If you don't want to get into situations like that you should take off your sunglasses." Leeteuk said. The tone in his voice told Donghae that the elder boy knew what he was talking about. "I saw how people reacted when Eunhyuk came here wearing glasses and I bet they won't pay as much attention to you if you don't wear them."

With a small sigh Donghae reached to take off the glasses. As the day went by he noticed how right Leeteuk had been. Only a few girls came to ask him what had happened but most of the students let him be and only gave him questioning looks. During the last break before Donghae's last lesson however, Taemin came to him as he was sitting on a windowsill with Siwon and Kibum.

"Hi Hyung!" Taemin greeted him brightly. He didn't even ask if he could take a seat before he sat down on the sill beside Donghae. The elder gave him a smile before he continued staring at the floor like he had been doing before the young dancer interrupted him.

"Donghae-ah, we're gonna go now. Our class is on the other side of the school." Siwon said and poked Donghae in his side before he took Kibum with him and left. Donghae gave them only a look that told them I-don't-care. Kibum, who had turned around as if he was going to say something, noticed it and only rolled his eyes as he turned back around and followed Siwon.

"Hyung, what's wrong?" Taemin asked. Even though Donghae was still looking at the direction Siwon and Kibum had gone he knew the expression Taemin was wearing. He turned to look at the Magnae and he wasn't surprised by the expression on the younger boy's face. Taemin looked as worried as he had sounded.

"What happened to you and Eunhyuk-hyung?"

"I can't really tell you anything. That's something personal." Donghae said. It wasn't a lie, but not exactly a truth either. He didn't know why Eunhyuk had gotten beaten up.

"You got beaten up, I can see it." Taemin muttered. Donghae let out a dry laughter and was about to say something as his phone puzzled in his pocket. It was a text message from Eunhyuk.

From Eunhyuk
To Donghae: I got a letter. I'm worried. It says I have to stay away from you or you'll get beaten up again.

Donghae's eyes widened as he read the message. He started typing furiously about how it was impossible, how his beating had nothing to do with his, how Soo man was not there anymore so he couldn't beat him anymore. And how he wanted Eunhyuk to stay calm. Nothing was going to hurt him and he wanted to tell no one could hurt Eunhyuk.

He didn't get the message sent yet as Taemin opened his mouth. "Isn't that your girlfriend?" Donghae's head shot up to look at where Taemin was looking. He saw Hara walking towards two guys that were leaning on the wall next to the door of a classroom. He recognized the guys from the day a few weeks ago when they had come to him after he had ignored Hara.

"N-no, not a girlfriend." Donghae muttered but he was more interested in the scene he was seeing than explaining the whole mess to Taemin. By now Hara had stopped at them and the taller of them spoke. Donghae cursed for being at the other side of the corridor and not being able to hear what they were talking about. He was about to stand up and walk closer to them but stopped himself from doing that when the tallest of them glanced towards him. Or did he look at Taemin?

Now also Hara turned to look at them before she quickly turned back to the guys and then they started walking away. Donghae saw the tallest giving one last look towards them, the expression in his eyes unreadable, before they disappeared around the corner.

Donghae turned to look at Taemin who was still looking at the spot where he had seen the trio the last time. "Do you know those guys?" Donghae asked and raised his other eyebrow, the unharmed one.

"Yes, the tallest one of them is Minho, my boyfriend." Taemin replied. He looked like he was deep in his own thoughts. "He's been spending quite a lot of time with Jonghyun lately…" He muttered, more to himself than to Donghae.

"And Jonghyun is the other guy, isn't he?" Donghae asked and Taemin only nodded. "What are they doing with Hara?" Donghae didn't feel good about this. Eunhyuk had said he had been beaten up by two guys and one of them had been a lot taller than the other. And Hara obviously had a motive to beat Eunhyuk up, or to pay someone to do the work for her.

"Minho told me she's his childhood friend when I asked him." Taemin answered. Then he turned to look at Donghae. "Why are you asking these kinda questions, hyung?"

Donghae swallowed hard and turned his head away from Taemin. "I can't tell you that. I need to go. The lesson starts soon." He said and tried to fake a smile as he stood up. "See you around."

Taemin smiled back at him as he also stood up. "Yeah, see you Hyung!" And he left. Donghae was really glad Taemin didn't go in the same direction as he. He was definitely not heading to class. He needed to find Hara.

He walked fast through the corridors, as fast as he could without running. He turned around a corner, then the second one and the third, until he almost bumped into Minho. Well, the tall boy was talking with Hara couple of meters away from him. Donghae could only see Minho's back but he saw Hara's face and she didn't look amused.

Donghae was about to walk up to the two but stopped in his tracks when he saw the guy, Jonghyun, walking towards the duo, looking grumpy like someone had peed on his morning cereals.

"We don't have much time. What is it?" Jonghyun asked with a low voice. Hara gave him a quick look before she started going through her bag and took out a brown envelope. She handed it to Minho, who took it quickly and checked what it had inside.

"No." He said suddenly and almost threw the envelope back to Hara. "I won't do it again."

"Why not?" Hara asked as she eyed Minho with an expression on her face that Donghae didn't recognize. She looked evil as a snake.

"If Taemin finds out that'll be the end of us." Minho said. "For god's sake, he's Taemin's friend!" He exclaimed in frustration and pushed his fingers through his hair.

"But you are pros, no one will ever find it out." Hara said with a mischievous grin. "Plus," she continued and waved the envelope in front of Minho's face. "you'll get this."

"No, I can't." Minho said once again.

"C'mon you big baby. It'll be a short gig." Jonghyun cut in. "How much?" He then asked Hara, who seemed to be pleased with his answer.

"10,000,000won, exactly." Hara said and handed the envelope to Jonghyun.

"No, I won't do it. I can't risk mine and Taemin's relationship." Minho said. "I will not do that to him again."

Donghae swallowed the lump in his throat. Suddenly he wasn't sure if he wanted to walk up to them and just beat the daylight out of the trio or run and tell Taemin what his boyfriend was doing. He was utterly confused but he decided to wait and see where the situation was going before he'd do anything.

"You've already ruined your relationship if your little girlie finds out. So there's nothing more to lose." Hara said in a nasty tone. "Besides, it'll be the last problem bothering you if someone finds out about what you've done."

Donghae could see Minho's frustration from afar. He pushed his fingers through his black hair and let his head drop. As Donghae watched Minho making his decision he started to feel sorry for him. If he were Minho, he would never want to risk his and Taemin's relationship. But at the same time Hara was right. If someone found out and told Taemin, their relationship would be over.

"Don't be such a big baby, Minho." Jonghyun voiced out. "It'll be the last gig we'll do. And…" He pointed the envelope. "…we'll get a rather big amount of money.

"No." Minho said and raised his head, looking directly at Hara. "I won't do it."
Donghae was about to panic and run away when Minho started walking right towards where he was standing behind the corner. But he knew it'd be pointless. Minho would see him even if he ran and if he ran, they'd all hear him. So he just stood still, waiting for Minho to pass him.

When Minho rounded the corner Donghae lowered his head down, keeping his cocky attitude but not looking at Minho. However, when Minho stopped briefly when he was in front of him, he had to look up. He didn't care to hide his anger and hate, but Minho looked… apologetic. The short time their gazes met Donghae could feel the sorrow and apologetic feeling radiating from Minho, but it was gone almost at the same second when Minho started walking again.
