Umm, first that's what is considered art by some people, you can't ignore one person's art because you disagree with it. Second, band should not be for parents, it is to work on your skills and let you learn something. This is how college will be, there is a lot of time spent on experimental work, not old stuff from long time ago.

Ish.

i like the ish at the end.

but im going to disagree, when your putting on a concert especially when you plan on playing for other bands such as trenton (like we are) you are performing to them, and trying to show your best. You are trying to entertain, and make people happy. Yes i agree that we should do crazy stuff like the piece we are learning, performing it though is different. Just like at rock concerts when people scream for an old favortie to be played, and even if the band hates the song and is so sick of it, they will play it to make the people happy.

Well, considering you are playing with Trenton, than I agree with you. However, if it were just you, I stick with my original point. There is nothing wrong with playing and old favorite, but concerts are also times to show the newest, no matter how much it may suck.

In my opinion, I think the "point system" is kind of good. It motivates us to not talk while he's talking, and also to do things correctly. I mean, we're high school kids, it's not like we're gonna be focused ALL the time.. but this will help with that, and it'll help us get more done in class if people aren't causing disturbances. I think it will be most beneficial to 2nd hour. I do agree with you, however, that there would be no point system in college... But, in college, you would also be able to leave class whenever you want ( ... )

i agree with you kim... especially since 2nd hour is mostly ADD freshmen and people in that class don't seem to know how to shut up in that class. however... I don't think the point system is the solution to the problem. I think B needs to get some backbone and start following up with threats and punishments. It seems almost like we can do a couple good things and screw around the other 90% of the time. i think if B made an example of a few people, more things will get done.

Good point mike, about bearinger actually following up on things.

Well if thats his way of getting us motivated "and to be good little boys and girls" i feel pathetic.
I guess i want and am ready to be treated like a college student, especially in courses that are suppose to be college-like.

And i dont think epinician is going to sound much better, there really isnt much to improve on, its a piece were your suppose to make up stuff. Again, i think its awesome to play in class becuase its fun to play. But it is not appealing to the ear. There are plenty of things we could play "out of the box" that are more appealing to the ear that we could learn a lot from.

Man ok, we tried to play epinicion last year and wow... We were just not mature enough to get it. It's a hard piece. But then I went to blue lake and heard the orchastra band play a part of it, and wow... It was amazing...
